Hi Everyone!
Just to give an update to my challenge, which has gone very well this year I think!
Bought a new sports bra at £19.95 and early this week I spent a £10 next giftcard on a new cardigan and had to put just £2 towards it!
This brings my total spend for the year to £24.69. Probably need to buy some new tights before Christmas, but apart from that, not a lot else! Have asked for a new paid of black jeans for Xmas, so no spend required there either!
Keep up the good work all! QBxOfficial DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109
Slowly, Slowly = Oct '09: £30693, Aug '15: £14820. Could Be Debt Free April 2020, but hoping for sooner!0 -
I brought a new pair of boots, and there not counted....... very pleased as they were £25.00, little ankle boots, with a smal heel........ sounds so silly but I haven't wore any type of heel in the last 7 yrs..... tottering like a little kid (becoz of the crutches), but they were gorgeous.
Even went through the sale rack in 3 Evans stores and didn't buy anything.
I've got a tiny amout in budget, + £26 made on ebay earlier in the year. Just can't believe how much of an inpact this challenge had on my life, sounds daft, but I really think now do I need the outfit, will I wear it again, 99% of the time it stays on the rack.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU XXxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Bought lots in M&S yesterday. DH and I agreed that we wouldn't buy each other presents but would spend £100 on ourselves when we went out shopping together if that makes sense. It works out the same as paying for each others put with less pressure. (Actually I spent double what he did but hey ho)
I bought a pairs of long black leather gloves
4 rollnexk jumpers
1 mid blue cowl neck
1 silver satin short sleeves blouse (really nice)
1 pair of black trousers. I do like these but it is the same old problem. Size 14 is too big and size12 too small. I haven't done too well at weight watchers. Put on 2lb last week, lost half a pound the week before. I think I have lost something ridiculous like 3lb over 8 weeks.
Don't know what to do.
Its a shame, when I was thin enough and young enough to wear lovely things I couldn't afford them. Now I can afford them i'm the wong age and wrong size.
My DH says that's life and why sports cars are usually driven by older men!0 -
Well, this thread has gone suspiciously quiet & I suspect that everyone is far too busy to update.
Having managed to avoid clothes shops for most of the year, in the last month I've been forced into so many of them it was just amtter of time before I cracked. Thre was an incident a couple of weeks ago when I had a mad moment & bought loads of stuff  but the next week I took it all back again.
I had my new work job christmas do on monday & was really proud that I wasnt even tempted to buy anything new. Obviously it did help that no one there has seen any of my outfits so I pulled out a favourite dress, with some leggings, boots & a little black cardi that is years old & felt quite comfortable & happy
Today I finally blew it though. I did my final christmas present shop & found myself leaving primarni with a snuggly tunic jumper dress at the Challenge-Breaking price of £10.77. A whole 16p over the allowance
To be honest I wouldnt have minded too much if it was £16 over as I have still saved so much money by doing this challenge. Even starting the new job - which in the pre DFW days, would have been an ideal excuse to wave the CC about - was dealt with in a very controlled & money saving way. I have bought 2 new pairs of trousers, 3 tops & 2 jumpers all from Primarni & for under £50 in total.
Sadly, my weight loss has been non existent so I still have about a stone & a half to lose  I am a lazy moo.
It seems that 2009 was the year for really dealing with budgets & work so I'm intending for 2010 to be the year that I deal with my body & my debts ...
Aiming high
I will be posting a new challenge for next year over the weekend and plan to avoid the sales as I have enough clothes to cater for my limited winter social life . I am yearning for a pair of boots in Faith that are £120 :shhh:
I'm off to update my sig now & hope to hear fro others soon. doesnt matter if you didnt keep to the challenge limit, if you spent less that you would have done normally, then that's a success

Weight.........um rrrrrrrrrrr......... that needs to be addressed...... after New Year xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi everyone
Well done Lula u have done brilliantly:beer: I managed to get thru the whole year spending 0 in this challenge so I def consider it a success:j On the weight loss front I lost 10kgs in total for the year but it all happened in the first halfFunnily enough the stopping losing weight coincided with a particularily difficult time financially.
Hope everyone is not getting stressed during this xmas period.Thailand 3010/15000 20150 -
Hi, Merry Christmas to you all. Had a brilliant shop last week, bought a half price Tescos dress and had £3.50 of clubcard vouchers so spent only £11.50 on a posh frock. Lovely sparkly shoes bought with credit note and bangles £6.
Not been sticking to £100 challenged, never planned to but have enjoyed the thread. I have been keeping a running total of what I spend on eating out and beauty/pamper treats. Works out as roughly £100 per month for each of them which is interesting and probably a lot more than some and a lot less than others.
Weight loss disappointing-lost 8lb but have probably put all back on-NEXT YEAR!
Best wishes
Keep the thread running0 -
Hi Lula-Hula*Snip
Kerfuffle - Happy New Blouse :j & lots of luck for that interview
Snip*
Well I finally got a job!!!! Not the one that I bought the blouse for but a job all the same. Soooooooooo, as the blouse is now officially workwear I wondered whether you would change my total spend and deduct the 19.81, making my balance for the year 50p ? Please, please.
I've just joined up to the 2010 challenge and as I said in the new thread being a part of this challenge has really kept me focused, so a big "thankyou" to Lula for running this thread.
And just so nobody thinks that I haven't made any purchases during 2009, I have, they just don't count. These are the things that I've bought:-
A pair of slippers
A pair of ski-gloves (only worn once since purchased as were bought in an emergency)
A swimming costume (only worn twice as don't like the local changing rooms)
A woollen hat (worn a couple of times - felt too self conscious)
A sun hat ( ditto - so only worn around the garden)
A skirt from the charity shop (not yet worn - as I need a colourful top to go with it)
A pair of black winter boots ( currently being worn to death)
A pair or brown winter boots ( ditto - alternating the 2 pairs - depending on the colour of trousers).
So although I've bought a few things, with the exception of the slippers and boots, they haven't been very wise purchases so there is definately room for improvement, hence the requirement to continue with the challenge into 2010.
See you over there. :j0 -
Well done on the new job kerfuffle - really pleased for you for sweetie
