You can definitely dye it black, if unsure there is a pre-dye product that strips the previous colour, but I reckon black will cover anything so have fun
Great to hear that you're happily unsingle too0 -
Hi all,
I sinned and bought a beautiful new Miss Selfridge necklace from ebay... for £8.74 :O BUT BUT BUT it's £12 instore so I consider that to be a good buy... ALso spent £1.50 in a lipstick, £1.50 on an eyeshadow... £2 on a purse which I don't really need :S
Also received three of the cheapie ebay items I bought... checky shirt & Topshop top don't suit me, so I'll be listing them on ebay this weekend. But the cream cardigan is an absolute beaut for £2.85!
Oooooh and I received a £20 refund for some shoes I returned. Win!And also awaiting a refund for a tshirt I returned.
Sooo after all that guff, my total is still £85.75.
BTW I have never tried dying clothes. I have a light grey tshirt... I wonder if I could dye it brown?! It's the perfect fit on me, just doesn't go with anything I've got! That said, it'll probably cost more to buy the dye than just buy a new tshirt. Hmmm.0 -
I have visions of Dylon Dye sales rocketing this weekend!
Well, I bought a pair of new trousers from Peacocks in the sale two weeks ago for £7. However I'm a short-@ rse so as they were regular they were too long for me. I took them into town today to get them shortened and couldn't believe it when I was quoted £5.99!
I handed over the money but was disgruntled about it walking around town and wishing I'd just have had a go at altering them myself...Ironically the trousers had been half-price at £7 so along with the cost of the altering they were nearly full price so not much of a bargain eh?
To make me feel even worse, when I got to my mums I told her about it, and she said if I'd have mentioned it to her, she'd have recommended a woman who she knows from the local social club who takes in clothes to be altered and wont only have charged me £2 (sob!).
Mind you, the queue for the alterations store was really long, so I guess a lot of people are opting to have stuff altered rather than buy new. Maybe that's why they are so pricy?Start Date: 27/11/2010

Lula - i bought a black shift dress in primarni for £13...... so please deduct it from the total
new total - £27.00 left..... eeeeek!!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I also went into the British Heart Foundation store to see if I could get any bargains, but there were none to be seen. I can't wait until I am back in a size 14, as anythingI have seen in a size 16 has been really 'grannyish' whereas the smaller sizes are all lovely stuffStart Date: 27/11/2010

wow that was expensive! My mum is always getting her trousers taken up (they're usually my super long cast offs, haha) and it costs £2.50 in town. Though last time was 6-months ago, you could be right about prices shooting up due to people becoming more thrifty!
I also feel your pain on charity shopping... all the decent stuff in ours is for teeny tiny sizes. Only old bobbly Primark jumpers seem to be in size 12-16 in ours :S0 -
I have spent money on clothes.
7 pound black top
5 pound greeney top
12 pound "cargo" trousers all from M and S
Is that 24 pounds off my total right ?
and the shame of it all I bought I shopping trolley. I am bypassing my 30's and heading straight for retirement.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
I have been so lucky - my friend has lost lots of weight and has given me some of her size 12 clothes!! I said she should put them on EBay but she gets confused by all of that and said the stuff I don't want/like/fit can be listed on EBay and profits split 50/50!! She has lovely taste in clothes tho - go me!!
She has also leant me a lovely dress for a wedding we have in May - it's Monsoon and she loves it so much can't bear to give it away - what about doing that with your friends, loan clothes for a certain amount of months?0 -

Funnily enough my friend told me this is what she does! She is the same size as her 27-year-old niece and they have similar tastes in clothes. Apparently if they see something they both really like, but don't need right then, they will put halfs towards it and share the outfit, they usually do it for clothes for special occasions rather than everyday stuff.Start Date: 27/11/2010

You can buy iron-on web/ tape stuff that sticks the hem in place (saves sewing)for a lot less than £5.99.
I'm soooo glad my gran & mum forced me to learn to sew :cool:I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
