Really pleased today, my sons friends lovely mum gave me a pair of pjs and several lovely next tops that he has grown out of for ds2. When i looked at the sizes they will actually fit ds1 as he's 2 sizes behind for his age and i was thinking he'd be needing some tops/pjs in this size so am v chuffed. Plus with 2 brothers younger than him they will get plenty of wear - i love a bargain!

Have been looking on ebay tonight at shorts for summer, thinking i will just get him some from primark this year as they will probably be the same price new as used ones on ebay!
Have a look round Tesco, Asda and even Matlan, as they have odds and sods from last yrs stocks, they tend to add them in with the xmas sales, I know it was b4 xmas but got dd shorts from Asda 10p a pair.

Just heard ds2 got into same school as ds1 so will start trying to buy 2nd hand sweatshirts when they have them - worked out if i bought four brand new one it would cost me £32, or for 4 2nd hand ones £2!!!!Bit of a difference there lol!
Sorry to be cheeky, but have they got to have the school logo sweatshirts, or can you get away with supermarket models, I got dd sweatshirts from Sainsburys and they have washed well, if we can get 2 days out of 1 sweatshirt thats a miracle.

Lol Lula-Hula at least you only need to drop one size - i'm three sizes bigger than before i got pregnant!
Join the club, wouldnt mind but when I was pregnant with dd, I only put on 10lbs and she was 7lb15oz, but after having her apparently I have put on 15kgs, darent ask what that is in pounds!!!
I call it mummy weight, sounds much better than saying overweight!!

lol mum2one 'mummyweight' i like that!

Thanks for the tips, i did get some shorts before xmas in the other kids sizes at Asda but didn't have any for ds1, he's at an age where hes starting to have a say in clothes now so will have to take him with me! I could try Matalan, we have one but i've never been there, we only have a small Tesco which doesn't sell clothes which is a shame cos i like their clothes, then again it saves me money!

No you don't have to supply the logo tops but they prefer it and i think it looks nice, i just get the normal polo tops though i'm not paying for the logo ones of those. I am going to buy 2nd hand ones as theya re actually only 50p each and have got them before, and they only sell good condition ones.

Yep i had my ds3 last february and within 6 months put on 10lbs!I thought i was meant to lose it not gain it lol!

Hi everyone & congrats on your new free top JaneLiz :D & new clothes for ds dobs :D .

School uniform is such a rip off, DDs head teacher 'insists' on kids having the logo on everything but I just refuse as which sane person would spend £8 on a polo top that's half nylon & cant be tumble dried when tesco do a pure cotton one that can for a mere £2. She does have the sweatshirt & PE t shirt with logo but anything else is just unnecessary.

The infant school had a thriving 'used' shop for all unifrom, book bags etc but no sign of one at the juniors  . I did find one of DD1s old secondary school ties in the airing cupboard the other day - 5 years since last worn but will be fine for DD in 3 years time ;) .

    bye for now

School uniforms are such a rip off aren't they!

I bought some tesco and matalan sweaters last summer, £2 each and paid the shop that does the logos a fiver each, saved £2.50 on each sweater... and i knew the sweaters were going to be big enough to last all year.....

then i bought another spare navy sweater which we didn't get logo'd which we use for in between days as 4 just wasn't enough some weeks....!!!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Just popping in to say hi to all challlengers and to say I haven't spent another penny out of my £100 since the last spend so my total is still the same on my sig!

It makes me think so hard about what I want and need before I spend.

Can't see another spend coming on for a while now!

Keep on going everyone, kindness and hugs sent to you all!

Got to do an update while I remember...

    I have bought:
    • ME: Long cardi for myself from Monsoon £18, was £60. Resisted soooooo many other things there that although that's almost a fifth of the yearly spend in one item I was really chuffed. I tried on about half a dozen items and discovered what it felt like to put them back afterwards.
    • ME: Work trousers from M&S £2.99 (reduced from £24.99)
    • DS1: 3 tshirts in M&S reduced to £1 each
    • DS2: 2 tshirts and a pair of trousers in M&S reduced to £1 each
    • DH: Nowt so far.
So, probably not doing too well compared to most of you, but doing brilliantly compared to me usually at this time of year.
