  • OK, so I thought I'd make it through January without confessing.... but here goes (I'm including undies in my £100 +£500 but not shoes)

Uncles 65th Birthday do required a new top (even though I haven't seen him or most of the family for 10 years and they have no idea what lives in my wardrobe). £10 to Mr T.

Washing machine ate 2 underwires so 2 new work bras bought from Mr A for £5.88 the pair.

From the kids' £500. New party dress for number 3, half price in Mr T's sale so £7.50. Two new school tops as I turned a couple pink in the wash - £3.00 for the pair. Littlest HonestBob had nothing 'smart' so acquired a new shirt for £3 and he's making potty training noises so I invested 50p in 5 pairs of pants from Mr A for him (bargain bum coverings!)

In sum, that's £15.88 from my £100 and £14 from the kids' £500.
    Jan - PAD £199.79
    Summer Sizzler Challenge 01/01/09 - 22/06/09 £144.61/£3009
    Make £5 a day in Jan £144.61/£155,
Crazy Clothes Challenge £15.88/£100 (me) £97.75/£500 (kids) :rotfl:

Still got my full £100 then and still have xmas money to use up first.

Hi everyone & sorry i havent been in for a while,

everyone is doing brilliantly with this :D

chaparittacifuentes & xxMissL2xx I'll add you both to the list on page 1 & will update any spends while I'm there ;) .

I've been through my wardrobe again & in typical 'deny & delay' style I've now set aside a shelf for things I havent worn in ages but not quite ready to let go yet :o . It seems that clothes karma blessed me for this as the next day i received a gift of a top similar but much nicer to one on 'the shelf' :D .

I too am an M&S undies devotee so I'm intending on using my £15 gift card when I need any new stuff... have plenty; just too fat still  .

I'm craving new tops at the moment & might have to visit primark soon but holding out for as long as possible as I still (ha, only on the second week  ) want a new pair of jeans & some summer tops).

SuSu - I dont know about including the price of wool; technically it's not spending on clothes but if it's for clothes & you make a significant saving on a jumper then maybe you should  I think I would include it if it was me but I'll let you decide :D .

I just worked out that if i dont buy anything in january then rather than £8.33 to spend each month, then I'll have £9.09 to spend instead :rotfl: .

Did anyone watch Trinny & susannah last night ? I thought the sunday school teacher's tranformation was fantastic.

DD has to take a pair of gloves to Brownies tonight - for glamming up apparently, hers have been missing since the first day back at school so i bought another pair at the week end... original ones turned up yesterday  .

    Brilliant work everyone :A

    lula

Moneysavingmonkey85 - I tend to class pyjamas in the lingerie/undies category so guess I wouldnt include that in the £100.

Went to do my weekly shop today, had a look at the clothes in the sale, saw a lovely skirt for £10, made myself put it back:D I have a few similar things at home so didn't need it. Usually it would have just been thrown in the trolley with the shopping and put on the card. It was a bargain though.:D

Am very happy that underwear isn't included, in a rash moment last week I threw away lots of things, realised on Saturday morning I was on my last clean pair:eek: . Had to go to M&S in rather a hurry, luckily there was a buy one, get one half price deal, so got 2 packs for £8.80. :j

This challenge is really making me think about things before buying them [STRIKE]and I hate it[/STRIKE] and about how much stuff I already have. Am amazed I haven't cracked so far, I think the key is to just not look so am just going to have to avoid clothes shops for as long as possible.:o

:rotfl: yes, that's exactly how I feel too; you think I havent been wandering around the on line sales cursing myself for starting this challenge when there are soooo many bargains to be had  . Just like Primula said I put stuff in the trolley/basket just because it's there & in the sale. *acknowledges that boots from Faith were acquired in this way & are rarely worn* :o

That's why i love the various challenges because when I know that I am a 'member' of a challenge & I have to confess regularly I feel much more responsible :D .

I've just signed up to the weekly spend challenge too; in fact I now believe that every single penny that comes in is accounted for & allocated to a sealed pot or challenge leaving me with nothing spare at all :( tough love eh ;)
    .

Mum2one - I've added you to the list although I actually thought you were already here :o Just me being presumptious as you gave me the push to start the thread :A . Well done on resistance so far :D .

I'm focusing on the inches rather than weight at the moment & there are at least 2 to remove from each area  , will update if & when there's any progress :rotfl:

    lula

Thank you for coming up with the suggestion, going through my wardrobe, I looked at some of the items and thought why did I buy you.....its a real eye opener, for example (I feel really gulity now when I think about it), I did a day trip for xmas on Orient Express, so decided at the time I was going to just buy a new top.......

Purchase 1 - Top from Evans £35.00, was going to wear smart black trs

    no

Purchase 2 - Dress - chocolate and cream posh frock, ok it was in sale reduced from £100 to £12.00

    no.......

Inbetween times fell in love with an outfit in Ann Harvey, top, skirt and jck, £250.

Purchase 3.......Yes your right......but it was in the sale
3 piece out from Ann Harvey reduced to £100.

Thats an example of my excuses, and I dare say its not the 1st thing that I have brought, and never wore, thou admitaddly in the last 12 mths, I did reduce my spending, but now signing up to this £100 challenge has really been an eye opener.

I'll hold my hands up and say I have done the same with dd, I guess I over compensated as Im a well built lady, and use to get everything for dd, the thing was it wasnt designer items, next would be the poshest, but from anywhere and when I went into town or somewhere without her, Id spoil her rotten, although now have finally learned my lesson, and yes she does has a wardrobe 3/4 full of clothes, I am only buying things as she needs and if she desperately needs them.
So dd has the same budget as me £100, (lucky as parents buy her shoes), so do us both gd. xx

I know now to avoid those fab bargains, as at the end of the day, there not a bargain unless u really need it.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
