  • TY KP. Was £34 but am delighted at that :D. Even managed some sweets and biscuits for the kids as DS has a friend to sleepover tonight. Got some crumpets too so had them with butter. Delish. Butter is one of the few things I cannot get the kids to change over from and must admit I don't really fight too much about it as I hate marge or spread type things too. It is our wee luxury in a world devoid of luxuries :rotfl:. I feel quite good as I still have £60 left to do me until Tuesday. Petrol should last until then. I definitely have enough food. So all is well.

If I have any money left after the party then I will put it into the car and that will allow a wee picnic trip up the loch side if the weather is nice next week :D. If my mum is well then I will take her with us as she will really enjoy that. We went to a place called Firkin point a couple of weeks ago. Me, mum, my brother, his wife and a variety of children. We had a portable barbecue and along the road a bit a couple of guys had a generator and decks and played some tunes. All this looking out onto Loch LOmond and with Ben LOmond across from us. My idea of absolute heaven :D

If there is still some money left I may get some trousers for my son for school and get started with the uniform. I doubt there will be mind you ;)

  • I am going to get dressed now as I am still sitting in bed. Need to dye my hair as the grey is taking over . How did this happen? WHen did I become an older person ? HUmph!

I am then going to clear out the space under my stairs and try and utilise it a bit better. There are a few things under there that I wanted to car boot so I am going to see just what I have got and get my butt in gear to do a boot sale. I Have the time this week to organise it so I miht as well get on with it. Hopefully other than the party and a couple pound to DS for swimming I won't have much more on the spend front today. Right I am getting on the move and doing some housework. Have a good day xx

  • MIT,

Well done, I have decided to take control of my finances rid my life of debts and create some money. I was recently made redundant and finding it difficult to find tips on what to do on a limited income small savings. Did you get your ideas from anywhere in particular? Books, web sites, courses, other than the fabulous MSE of course.
  • KItchen cleaned, just the floor to do. DIshwasher emptied and refilled and all children fed:D. FRench toast, Cheap and cheerful and everyone loves it so fab meal for money savers:D.

I just realised I still have £20 in my purse so don't need to lift all the money I have tonight. THis is good because I Just received my Argos bill and it has the bike I bought my son on it. My mum is paying for half of it and I got it for £80 so not too bad. BUT I had bought a table for my kitchen and was paying it off on 9 months interest free credit. THis is due to end on 3rd Sept. I was really organised and had set up a standing order to pay off the full amount prior to the final date but didn't realise that anything I bought in the meantime would be paid off first. THis means I have £139 to find prior to 3rd Sept . Am annoyed that I took my eye off of that particular ball. If I do not pay this off then I will be charged the full amount of interest for the 9 months and no way is that going to happen. So all in I owe them £227.63. My mum is giving me £40 and I have 1 more standing order payment to be made of £40. THis leaves me with £147.63 to pay along with approx £0.82 interest . So approx £150 by 3rd Sept. Jeez .I have 8 weeks to get this money. THat's £18.75 per week. More if I can manage. This will leave my Argos card clear for Christmas and I can do the 9 month thing again. Normally works brilliantly for me but I bought something else this time before I paid the initial thing off. Stupid !.. At least by coming back on here and getting my eye back on the ball I have noticed it in time. Although it will be difficult to clear I will manage it if it kills me. I pay enough interest to companies that I need to never mind ones I dont.

Ok am off to polish my lounge and hall. XX

  • hi
Lounge nice and clean. Kitchen nice and clean. Bottom hall nice and clean. 2 loads of washing done and ironing all away. Hair dyed and kids can do upstairs as I am now resting so I can party all night. DS had a sleepover last night and I got a rotten sleep . THe lad is still here as his mum is at work. Never mind it has kept DS amused all this wet day whereas he would have moaned the face off of me about being bored.
I have heard about 2 young women I know within the last 24 hours, both early 40's who have cancer. ONe has brain cancer and one breast with secondaries in her liver. Although not close to them I was really close to one of them in the past.It is really scary and both have young families. Very upsetting for everyone. Makes me want to get rid of this debt ASAP so that I can live life to the full. I worry sometimes ( and I know it's daft) that if I die then my kids inheritance would be eaten into to pay off my debt and I hate that thought. I want to be able to leave my house etc to my kids to help them out in years to come. I do not want the banks getting their mitts on it first. So full steam ahead for me and maybe I will manage my JUly 2012 target or somewhere near that:p.

  • Soontobemum sorry I just noticed your post there. When I started out I read this site constantly and followed all the advice on it. I also bought Martin's book and read it from cover to cover. I lived and breathed moneysaving and tbh I would be really in the sh*t if I hadn't. I didn't have enough money coming in to cover everything when I started this journey but I do now. Although I am still in debt I have paid off a lot and am in a much better position. Everyone gets paid on time etc etc. I just need to get rid of the damned cards as they are the killer in my life. Everything else i.e. loans mortgage tick along nicely themselves but I desperately want rid of the cards but struggle to overpay. Good luck in your quest and hopefully the job situation will get better.

  • Hi. WHat a party last night. Had a ball :D. UNfortunately feeling rather fragile today:o. Only spent £20 so was well pleased . SPent £10 in Mac Donalds today as had to feed the hangover :o.DD was pleased mind you as she got a rare treat of a MacD's. SPent another fiver in Morrisons but still have £35 towards my ARGOS bill and my mum gave me £40 towards ds's bike which is part of the bill. I can now phone up tomorrow and pay £75 from it. ONly another £115 to find. AT least I have the first £18.75 installment paid and £16.25 towards next week's. I'm on my way. REmembered today though that car is due taxed at end of month too . We will be eating lots of store cupboard food this next few weeks. Cupboards will be empty but good job they are full just now. We'll do it as I determined I am not going to pay 1 penny interest that I don't have to. Also once Argos is paid off it releases £40 to pay to my CC. THat will allow me to make an overpayment on one of my MBNA cards. I will pay it off first of all as it has the stupid interest rate on it. Oh I hope I do this this time as I am fed up of this.
