Oh my god! Just when I had given up all hope, and had been fed that many stories from different people in Newcastle and in Cov & Warwick JCP about recruitment being stopped again, I was sitting in Debenhams coffee shop this morning and got THE CALL!!!!

Couldn't believe it and still can't...Apparently they had a meeting yesterday and it was identified they need AO's at Stratford, Rugby, Bedworth and Nuneaton JCPs. I was offered a choice of any and accepted Nuneaton... Contract is only till November 2010 though, not the 18 month i applied for..

I start January 4th, which incidentally is my 40th birthday. I laughingly asked for the day off!!!

Anyone else heard or been offered positions today?

Thats great news - Well Done! A brilliant start to the year and they do say that life begins at 40 lol! :D
  • Sorry Topkay IRC 62846 Lancashire & Cumbria - driving myself mad. Anyway spoke to a lovely person at the office and arranged to go and see them tomorrow to meet the team and find out a bit more detail. Fingers crossed x

Hi sorry about that yes it was RC 62876 I told you I was driving myself mad! I don't know where I was on the merit list- I never phoned up as I was trying to give my other job a chance! They phoned last week offering Preston but I turned it down and asked if I could wait for my first choice Skemerdale to come up - which it did yesterday!

    Ho Natomar

I am also there tomorrow for AO interview. Not too bothered about this mainly for the experience. At least I shall be at the HOME OF FOOTBALL. I was there at Wembley in 1968 although only a young schoolboy who travelled down on my own. My mother did not sleep all night. I miised the bus back to Lancashire due to extra time but the other fans and police were brilliant and looked after me overnight at Victoria Coach Station. Sory about the diversion but it was a great night.
    Hi Whiskyman
Your poor mother! glad you enjoyed your adventure. I am supposed to be there tommorow 09.15 for AO, but I have a hospital appointment so I rang to change the time, they said they would get back to me, but guess what they haven't!!! so I won't be there, hope it went well today

Has anybody who's been successful with their AO board for vacancies on Merseyside been contacted yet with a start date? Got my successful letter in September, but since then, due to this "freeze" on recruitment, haven't heard anything more. Contacted Newcastle a few weeks ago, and although they claimed the freeze has now been "partially lifted," they said that it was up to the local business (meaning the jobcentres on Merseyside) to decide if they need more staff.

Am still waiting for the "call." Does anybody know what is happening?
  • You recently completed the DWP On Line Assessment on 18/11/2009.

It is with pleasure that I can inform you that you have successfully passed the test. Congratulations!

We will contact you in due course to arrange the next steps in the assessment process.

Has anyone else had good news with this one?

    :)

    Hi Natomar

They say on the email that they can not change the date or time so that does not suprise me that they did not get back to you.
Today went excellently. I think that the people you get to interview you makes a difference. The two who interviewed me made it so easy. They were so relaxed and made you feel as though they were interested in you not just interviewing another one. Anyway all the best for Saturday at the HOME OF FOOTBALL.
  • Congratulations Darnay! At least some one's having some luck :-)

I got a reply to an email I sent them. A little ambiguous to say the least, but I am impressed with the lengthy reply after all the negativity I've seen. This should give people a couple of useful phone numbers if nothing else:

    Dear

Thank you for your email of the 25th November 2009.

Firstly please accept my apologies for any difficulty you encountered in contacting Resourcing, we recently experienced some telephony issues and although these have now been rectified some correspondence was issued listing contact numbers which are now out of use. Resourcing has made every effort to publish updated contact numbers however should you have any difficulty in reaching us please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Alternatively please call 01912166956 or 01912166985.

With regards to recent Jobcentre Plus recruitment, I should explain that it was initially anticipated that Jobcentre Plus would be in a position to offer posts to all candidates successfully completing pre recruitment checks for these selection exercises. However the advertised Recruitment opportunities within Jobcentre plus have generated extraordinary levels of interest and applications. Whilst recruitment activity has not ceased, the significant number of successful applications for these posts, as well as the size and complexity of locations and positions available, has necessitated a full review of Jobcentre Plus's staffing position and has resulted in delays in contacting candidates to offer start dates.

Jobcentre Plus have confirmed that they are in a recruiting position until the end of December and they will contact candidates during that time if they are able to offer a post. Otherwise we are assured that they will contact all remaining candidates in January 2010 to advise what action they are taking. I can confirm that you are currently held 72nd out of 103 successful candidates in this selection exercise and that your pre recruitment checks have been completed.

Whilst Employee Services Resourcing administer selection activity on behalf of Jobcentre Plus, any offer of employment will be made by the local business area and I am therefore unable advise as to the likelihood of your receiving a start date for any particular exercise before January.

I appreciate that this is a difficult time for anyone awaiting a start date, and would like to thank you for your patience. Once again I regret that I am unable to provide more specific timescales and can only reiterate that should Jobcentre Plus be in a position to offer you a position, you will be contacted immediately.

In the meantime should you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
