DWP employment waiting list

Okay 61880ers i've spoken to the folk in charge of recruitment at Cov & Warwick JobCentrPlus this week and....
They have apparently offered positions in the Coventry Contact Centre to 5 people so far, and that is liable to be it until January 2010 unless any one of those people refuses the position.. As far as they are aware they will not be making any further offers until into January 2010 at the earliest, and even then they have no idea of the numbers they need cos they basically are so short of space in the JCP's that they have no room to put any customer facing AO's at any of the Coventry & Warwickshire Jobcentres except for Coventry!!!
It didn't sound promising to say the least sorry people! I suspect they simply over-recruited, thinking the recession was gonna bite harder and unemployment hit 3million by the end of the year, and it hasn't. Reading between the lines it looks like they just don't need the bodies on the frontline anymore..
I'll find out more Monday when I have another appointment booked with my advisor who was gonna do some sniffing about for me and see what is happening..
Thanks for the info Darnay, if you were number 5 on the list shouldn't you have been one of those offered a job in the contact centre? or were they from a different IRC number.
Hopefully you can find more out on monday. I would be grateful for any info. I don't need to worry now that my phone broke today, seems like I didn't miss a call. Although it seems to me that the whole waiting process would be a lot easier to bear if they reguarly updated you as to what is going on, I'm sure people wouldn't get half as angry or frustrated.0 -
Hi all,
Got my confirmation letter today for EO position saying that I will be a band C personal advisor. I have researched this role and all seems good but wondered if anyone here actually is a personal advisor or knows anything more about that role that they could share from experience?
Thanks,
Amy
Im an AO so i only know what i have seen from shadowin personal advisors. From what ive seen they do a more detailed interview than that of the FJR (fortnightly job reviewers...band b). If your on New deal, that might involve referring customers to courses, work trials etc etc.....or if your not i guess its just a more detailed interview with your customers, giving out ADF if they need it for interview clothes etc (advisor discretionary fund), making new claims, doing 13 week/26 weeks reviews etc. From what ive seen it looks like a really good job within the department xx0 -

mandie2106 wrote: »Well today i applied for a band C job (IRC 64366). It was meant to go live on Monday but thats it just went on today. Its specific to the Fife area so if im successful i'll only be putting down my local office ( i love it here so far and its really handy with childcare etc being local too).
I was amazed how much easier it is to apply once ur already working with the dwp. I logged onto RM to check if it was live yet, it was, so i clicked "apply now" expecting to have to go thru the whole application thing as before, but all i had to do was confirm that the details they had were correct then click "submit"...easy peasy. Im guessing from that, that i should def get at least an interview so wish me luck!! Interviews are scheduled for the 17th of December for successful applicants....so plenty time to prepare
go for it girl. As I have said before I think that you are right for the job. All the best and I hope that you knock them dead as I am sure you will.0 -

You are correct if they communicated (one of the competencies on the checklist at interview I think) then we would not be so frustrated. I believe that as a last resort they will email you if they can not contact you on your phone. Best of luck anyway.0 -
Hi whiskyman
Me too at 12.15!
I am also there tomorrow for AO interview. Not too bothered about this mainly for the experience. At least I shall be at the HOME OF FOOTBALL. I was there at Wembley in 1968 although only a young schoolboy who travelled down on my own. My mother did not sleep all night. I miised the bus back to Lancashire due to extra time but the other fans and police were brilliant and looked after me overnight at Victoria Coach Station. Sory about the diversion but it was a great night.0 -

I was/am/could be number 5 on the list, but they said there were maybe more than 5 people above me.. i.e. 2people at number 1, 3 at number 2, etc etc...
If i'm honest CC I don't set much stall by the so called merit list anymore, after all in every email i've supposedly been in a different position.. I go up and down more often than a lift at Selfridges..
Will update Monday, or as soon as I get any further information for 61880ers0 -
Had the phone call for a Band C Personal Advisor post for my first choice area - yay!
Only problem is I was told that the job is temporary until 30/11/10 at the most but may end earlier dependant on the job market. Apparently would get either 8 or 12 weeks notice (the lady on the phone wasn't sure). Now do I give up my current temporary post which is until 31/10/10 to perhaps find myself out of work quite a bit earlier!!! Current job ok just not fantastic.
Are others finding the same dilemma. Wish they would stop moving the goal posts, I am sure the position was advertised at 18 months, then I accepted in my mind it would probably be 12 months but what if it is only 6 months?
I've got a little time until Monday at the latest to decide - what a decision!0
