Thanks for the reply, forgive me for being a lil silly 'Freeze' ??

Jobcentre Plus decided in September to 'freeze' (pause) recrutiment nationwide until the end of October to assess how many people they needed in areas. However, as you have probably read the freeze has largely been lifted and people are being recruited again.
  • Hope i get the call soon i currently work for BT and my job is coming to it's end on the 27th November :( A day before my birthday a month away from xmas....hard times.
  • I've just emailed the recruitment department. *fingers crossed* I get a reply, I will post it up on here once I do so that it might help others. (That's if they tell me anything of any substance!)
"you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."
  • What IRC is this for and what part of London. If it's in a certain area of London, i.e. South London, I suggest you call the District Office for the area and ask to speak to someone regarding this. For anyone that doesn't know Busniness Services = District Office.

However, if the recruitment exercise is for a London wide recruitment your file would probably be passed onto your local District office but this insn't always the case as it happened to me, my file was passed onto North and North East London (Romford) whereas I live in Central London and my Local District office is less than 5 minutes away from me.

It was for irc60227--EO Central and city. I had a phone call last week asking me what offices I wanted to go to but they no idea when I would get a start date.
  • I got the call!!!!!!!2nd Nov....Forest Hill JCP.....Thanks to all who made my ''waiting room'' quite interesting.....

Well Done! Brilliant news! Good luck for the 2nd :j

I hadn't realised that about the contracts, oh no..even more depressed now! I've been trying to chase, but can't get anywhere. I know, I thought the freeze didn't apply in North West either! Hope all going well for you. Congratulations Divinelistic. Hi Anthony, you can call resourcing to find out about merit listing, however, this doesn't necessarily mean you will be placed in that order, also it seems particularly difficult to get information at the moment because of the apparent freeze. The good thing, I'm not sure you will feel that though, is that at least you are aware it will maybe take some time...no, that's not really a good thing, I know, but you are prepared for it if nothing else.
The closing date for my area was 8th July, and I received 'the call' on 15th October to start 26th October. If the contract was for the 18 months beginning when it was the closing date then i'd only be there until January 2011, but my contract is until end of April 2011, 18 months from my start date, NOT the closing date, so maybe it just depends on the area.

    Hey guys,

Sorry I've been away for a while - training is exactly as Venus described so no point adding any more.

Search and stillwaiting - I can't believe you are still here and haven't heard anything. Search I know you were on the same IRC as me, stillwaiting - what is your IRC???

I know the recruitment freeze may have affected most areas but I thought the north west was not included????

Do what you can to chase this - everyday if you have to as your 18month contract starts from the closing date for applications, so if you applied in April 2009 your contract runs out October 2010 etc.

I really do hope you get the call soon - and that goes for the rest of you out there still waiting to hear. ;)
my 18 month contract runs from my start date. oct 2009 to april 2010.
all i can say so far is IM LOVIN IT:j:j:j:j
HOPE YOU ALL GET THE CALL SOON COS YOU WILL LOVE IT TOO

    Hi,

It was the IRC I mentioned, and yep it was for West Yorks (leeds specifically I think but not sure whether it was down as leeds specifically or west yorks).
Are you on the same IRC??
