evening chicken bunny, hows ur day been

I am good ta'!! Hope you are doing okay too. :)

Well..............today was fun again. We have just come to the end of our 3 day core skills course. Today we focused on good and bad customer service. Like, did you know that ignoring someone when they come to your desk is being rude? Apparently so :D I jest...it was very informative. We got made aware of things that we may or may not do which indicates 'bad customer service'. Such as mannerisms/tones of voice and body language we don't realise we use.

We also looked at passive, aggressive and assertive behaviour and how to tell the differences...some have very blurred borders.

The funniest bit was when we learned about hand gestures that we may want to use. The 'flick', the 'slash' and the 'punch' were a few suggested (that's a joyous punch in the air...not punching the customers!)

We watched a couple of information videos on good and bad customer service made for the dwp and one had Dawn French in and the other had that bloke of Rogue Traders in. The one with Dawn was funny as it was like a murder mystery (cluedo) in a hotel, and the inspector was looking for clues to her death (she drowned in a lake) and he was pointing the blame at the bad customer service she had received throughout the day (annoyed and upset her so much she jumped in the lake). So he got all the people she had dealings with that day (man in post office, shoe shop assistant, nurse etc) and told them how the contributed to her death. I wont tell you the end in case you watch it. There was a twist :D

Anyway, i am sad the 3 day key skills bit is over. It was fun. We have the serious stuff next week...learning the computer systems etc.

I really hope some of you do the same 3 weeks training that i did, as it is really good.

I've (well at 10am) just had the call to give me a start date at one of my local offices of the 19th of October too. Definitely something about this date. My head is mince but I'm :j:j:j

I had phoned on Monday past to see if there was any updates on the freeze, and the guy I spoke to (very nice by the way and helpful) advised me things were in progress and he was hoping for an update in the next day or so and recommended I call back on Friday (today), then said, actually do you want to call back Thursday (yesterday) and hopefully we shall have some news for you.

I'm currently choked with the cold and off from my current work (don't want to infect everyone else and there is already shortage of lemsip and it's derivatives here). Anyway I digress, I swithered whether to phone yesterday and did so really quite late in the afternooon and spoke to a lady. Again very helpful and she took my details and IRC number and said she would call me back.

She duly did 10 mins or so later asking me if I currently work which I do and how much notice I needed to give (one week), and would Monday the 19th October suit? Erm yes.........:D:rolleyes:

She said she would contact my local office and confim the start date with them, and call me back today to confim everything and get the rest in the post to me and via email.

I was told my post will be "up to 18 months" on the phone, but hoping it ends up permanent, and that I could be working between 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am - 1pm but currently my JC+ are only open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday which is perfect and I'm so looking forward to cooking again for my teenage kids and visa versa.

I'm now going to have to go and get office type clothes, as I currently work in a call centre where nearly anything goes.

For those still waiting, don't give up, my time line is as follows:-

Applied online last week of June
Numeracy and literacy tests 2nd week of July (IIRC)
Interview same day as tests above
Success letter 3 days after interview, but with 12 month waiting list
Disclosure Scotland received 1st week of August, but forwarded onto DWP and received back a week later with compliments slip
Call re the freeze two weeks ago, maybe three.
Call confirming job offer today Friday 9th October :T

Total time from application to start date just under four months.

FAO heathertheblether I recommend calling the Dunfermline number if your reading this a couple of pages back or PM me and I'll give you it, that way fingers crossed you should know what's going on. Who knows we might even be in the same office.

Well done cheekyweegit, really happy for you. Are you having a wee drinkie tonight??;) :T

Me too!! well done to you which

This is my first post on here and I would like to thank everybody for their invaluable advice with regards to interview tips, possible questions, techniques etc.

I had an interview for IRC60811 on the 31st August and had my success letter through today for an EO role in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire.

All the talk of freezes and holds on here is slightly disheartning, but I did get told at my local jobcentre that people are needed so I guess that's a good sign?! I'm not holding my breath though and have sorted a temporary job in the meantime (that's about half the money!).

ANybody else have a letter from this area?

Once again BIG thanks to you all.
