DWP employment waiting list

Well I hope he/she doesn't have that kind of empathy with their customers, if they have any at all....how rude and uncompassionate...0

I read it and resisted replying for fear of fanning the flames but think it was not only inappropriate but very odd. As far as I can see it this is a forum for sharing information and experiences. I can't see any reason why people shouldn't be able to explore, and indeed, complain about practices, policies or the overall experience.
I understand concern about posting 'personal' details or commenting on individual staff, but as far as I know that hasn't been done. All that has happened (that I am aware of) is that some people exchanged up to date company contact details because the contact details people had were not working/telephones being answered (exceedingly unprofessionally). Also, the poster's comments were tantamount to suggesting it wasn't okay for people to be worried/ unhappy about various serious administrative errors, changed goal posts regarding something as serious as a job, recruitment freezes which hadn't been communicated etc. It seemed the poster felt that anyone with any legitimate concern or complaint should ignore it and pursue other employment instead...I wonder if that poster translates this themselves and practices this in other realms...seems very strange.0 -
When people click the 'Abuse' button i think it gets rid of the thread or someone checks it and decides whether to delete it. Someone must have thought it was wrong and reported it i guess?"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0

im sure sigrid works for the dwp
venus how long did it take for you to get your checks back after you got your success letter0 -
Doesn't this thread tell you anything ? I worked for the DWP years ago. They neither know what efficiency is nor customer service. Moreover, they don't care because they are accountable to no one. In the private sector, you can go bust if you are inefficient but not so in the public sector.
The worst thing is that many of the staff I worked with there were related to one another. Many of the jobs that you are all so eagerly hoping for will be given to friends and family of people already working for the DWP. I know what I am talking about. You may say that it was Capita who did the recruiting not the DWP but it is the DWP who have the ultimate selection of staff ; Capita only recommend.
Those lucky enough to get into the DWP, if lucky is the right word, will soon realise that I am telling the truth. The DWP recruits a few blacks, a few gays, a few disabled etc to give the impression that they are a fair employer. In reality, the whole British Civil Service is run by the Masons who give jobs to their children and extended family members. I left to join the Revenue and Customs and again found that most people were related to each other and I don't mean by marriage.
If you don't get a civil service job, you are missing nothing except a fat undeserved pension.0 -

ouch!!!!!!
lets face it u cud say that about a lot of employers, and maybe just maybe if we do get recruited we can restore a little bit of faith in the ppl that need help, by showing ppl how professional we can be0 -
if you think DWP is so badly run why do you want to work for them? As for the person who wanted to do it for "greater good" come on!! biggest pile I've heard in my life! there's plenty of charitys out there love if you want to help the world! anyway DWP took on more people due to the rise in unemployment... as far as I can see the country is coming out of this horrible mess and jobs are opening up so less ppl are going on benefits... in turn DWP DO need to look at how many people they need!! hence the "freeze" no doubt!!
As for posting people's names and numbers from newcastle on here its disgusting! At the end of the day they are people and don't have any control over any of this! I'm sure if they could tell you they would but it's their job! Imagine how they feel when some idiot sticks their number on a forum for something thats NOTHING to do with them? Imagine if someone in your street put your number up and said "well just phone them... they'll put you through to me..."
why don't you all just apply for other jobs if you are so sick of waiting, sick of the way you are treated? Hey then you can turn DWP down when/if they ever do phone?
I guess its just because we were all so happy to be told there was a job in the pipeline and now have had the rug pulled from under our feet with all the bad news about the "freeze" etc. If you are desperate for the job you have been "successful" for (as we all are) then you will clutch at any straw (contact number, update, does anyone have any news?) that you can grab.
Dont be too hard on us "wannabees".

Some how I don't think they were peoples home telephone numbers, these would be business numbers, I see a massive difference here. Stop sounding so angry, chill a little, and have some empathy for the people on here who were depending on these jobs...0 -
There's nothing wrong at all with posting business numbers. It's their job to deal with this. If there was evidence of people becoming abusive then that'd be a bit different, but I think we're all polite enough here to demand the answers we deserve without it becoming intimidating.0
