Correct me if im wrong, but everyone gets marked out of 45 or 50 (cant remember which) for their interview and the higher you are the faster you will get a job...Those without waiting list letters will normally get jobs assigned first, then the ones with slightly lower marks will get offered jobs (6 month waiting list letters) and then the ones with lower marks again will get offered jobs if there are any available (12 month waiting list letters).
I don't think this is the strict rule but i think those are the guidelines, give or take a few exceptions of course!! I don't know for sure, but from what i have read and researched i have come to this conclusion myself!!"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

My son is on a 6 month waiting list, although he will still be trying for others within the DWP as well.
He had a contract with the pensions service last year, he applied for that one internally where no test were involved for this then as an AA, he did have an extended contract, and it ended in April this year.
He have applied again but this time he undertaken the SIFT test online and was told he was successful but on the waiting list for 6 months, so we had taken it as well like you have explained.
Fingers crossed he will get back in soon, he loved that job so much.
Thanks again.;)

I have West Yorkshire updates for vacancies 60540, 60529 and 61351.
I rang the number on my successful letters and asked if it was worth going to my interview at Leeds Metropole next week as I had the letters.
The lovely lady I spoke to (who was eating her lunch while we spoke which was very amusing) said that a successful letter does not mean we will get a post, it depends on merit list and vacancies etc, as most of us now know.
Anyway, my wife is 25 and I am 100 for IRC 60540. We have passed all checks and there are 150 posts.
I am 19 for post 60529, passed all checks and there are 150 posts.
My wife is (gulp) 1 for 61351 and there are 30 posts.
The lady did not have start dates for any of the posts but said 60540 and 60529 are looking at starting in September, maybe early October.0 -
Yay, just wanted to say thanks to everyone's advice on this forum. It has stopped me worrying.
I just got the call to start this Monday coming but haven't any letter yet! Now just concerned that the 18 months may not be as applicable if people have been given only a couple of months to work. That doesn't seem very fair to me.. will have to wait and see.
Thanks again everyone and best of luck to those who are either still waiting or have just started. :T0 -

I hope he gets a job soon, i know what its like waiting!! I have heard of people on 6 months waiting lists getting jobs in a couple of months or less from receiving their success letters. Hopefully your son will be one of them! x"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

Congrats!!! I bet your really excited! How long ago did you get your success letter? (sorry if you have already mentioned it in an earlier comment)"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -
So
whats eveyone think to this, i was 82 on the list , I got a 12 month waiting letter, which after reading this thread seems to suggest I did rather badly at interview !!!
Anyway I rang to clarify and they said that they had called for 41 people so i was now 41 in the list, so does anyone think I have a cat in hell's chance of getting a job in the next 12 months or shall i just forget about it now??

They never ever sent me a successful letter, i called the jobcentre they told me over the phone. You know i have never got any paperwork from them about this position. I had to always chase them but i have waited 4 months with chasing them. So anyone waiting it is different for everyone.
