What is the difference between the Merit list and the Waiting list?! i have been told i am on the waiting list (although they have started checks on me) and when i have rang newcastle to enquire I have been told i am 73 on the merit list. Also does anyone know if the lists are split into actual jobcentres or it will be the whole area that i applied to.
    It's all too confusing

I passed my telephone medical which is a relief :j
  • Does everyone have to have a telephone medical?

    Hi
I received a letter stating I was on a waiting list with the words no guarantee of a post although we hope to employ you, blah blah.

Anyhow, I found out I was number 1 on that list and start work on Monday.

I am in the first group to start, no one has been taken on until now. Receiving a waiting list letter does not mean you will wait longer for a post then receiving a letter not stating waiting list!

Regards to areas, my application covered 3 Jobcentres and I got my first choice. I know the list I was on covered 3 areas.

Hope you hear some good news soon!

Sounds like they're really starting to move on their recruitment now. Can imagine their offices are crazy busy, they'll be as relieved as we all will be when they finally manage to fill the jobs.

The lady on the phone was lovely, which helped. Have you had your CRB back yet?! I would assume that mine hadn't been sent yet until I had had my medical.

I am hoping that it wont be much longer with checks, although my letter was a waiting list letter it did say they were starting checks and the lady i spoke to at Newcastle said it must mean they envisage taking on more people from the list quite soon. I hope i get one of the jobcentres i chose, i live out in the sticks and rely on publuc transport.

Lili, don't be depressed, as you are No.1 on the list and your CRB should be with DWP soon, i'm sure you'll get the call in the next couple of weeks. Don't give up hope, you're nearly there : )

    Thanks Grace:D. I hope so.
