What's the most overpriced food product that you could make yourself?

Tomato sauce for pasta - so quick, cheap and easy to make!
Also any "cream of" soup, just whizz whatever is you want (works well with most leftovers) with a bit of stock and then add a splash of cream.
I was tempted to add "potato gnocchi" but if I take into account the time factor perhaps it would not work so well in my favour. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Hmmm. These have their place though (which to be fair, so does the frozen mash I mentioned earlier) They are a good idea for those who can't prepare veg through arthritis, or some other ailment
Purpleivy, how do you make tortillas? I don't buy them because of the cost, but I could have a go at making them.Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Those little individual pots of ready to serve jelly!
Brand name bottled water!
Those little packets of ready prepared fruit for lunch boxes, like a bit of peeled sliced apple and a couple of grapes!
Prawn crackers from the takeaway..if only you knew!0 -
Bread as it is something you need on a daily basis but so much cheaper to make0

this looks approx what I do as far as the instructions are concerned. I don't use butter, I use oil. Tend to use about 500g flour and roughly 320ml water, but you need to just add until you get a pliable dough. I sometimes add garlic granules or mixed dried herbs.
I usually roll out while DS cooks them. Get a production line going. It's really important to cover them with a teatowel otherwise they dry out. Then get into a plastic bag when they are cool. Ask if you need any more help...best PM, so I get the message!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
