Frozed baked potatoes!!! How hard is it to bake a potato!
You know, my mum used to run a cafe, and they bought frozen baked potatoes. I did buy a case from her every now and then because they were just delicious. I don't know why, but they tasted different.
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T
Don't throw away food challenge started 30/10/11 £4.45 wasted.
Storecard balance -[STRIKE] £786.60[/STRIKE] £7080 -
-Tortillas (as someone said already) cost up to 40p to make, twice that (at least) to buy!
-Bread (so easy, and breadmakers are cheap, so are hands!)
-Pizzas
-Quiches
(unless they are reduced to pennies of course- good for emergencies!).

You can usually get 4 breasts for the cost of one chicken & being as I only use the breasts:o , its cheaper for me to buy breasts.
We get in late, tired for our day at work & chicken breasts are a quick & handy way of cooking, I don't have all afternoon to roast a chicken
I agree, we only like the breast so its false economy to buy the whole thing! Other parts are far too oily for my taste (and DH).Chicken cooks in an hour, not an afternoon.... The legs are great for making curries and casseroles.
Cannot be faffed making stock from the carcass either (yes I know its not OS but each to their own!).Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

well my sister buys ready grated cheese!
That is one thing I have never been prepared to pay the high price for BUT they sell, or they did, bags of grated cheese in Aldi that weighed the same as a block but it was about 40p less than the block of cheese.
I can't remember what it is called I think it has a picture of an Abbey on it as it reminded me of Cathedral City cheese.0 -
You wouldn't have a recipe for those would you?
MrsMCawber's
CHEWY SOFT FLOUR TORTILLA
2 CUPS PLAIN FLOUR about 300g
1 ½ TSP BAKING POWDER
1TSP SALT
2TSP VEG OIL
¾ CUP WARM MILK -180ml
Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl
Whisk milk, oil and salt
Pour into flour -stirring to mix
Once mixed -turned out onto a lightly floured worktop and knead for 2 mins
Cover and leave for 15 mins -it won’t rise but needs to relax
Cut into 8 balls (approx 50g each)
Cover and leave to relax for 10 mins
Roll each one out into a round -approx 8”
Heat a heavy frying pan (preferably cast iron)
Drop in one tortilla and turn after about 2 mins -the surface should bubble -press down with a teatowel (watch you don't steam your fingers )
Place inside a dry tea towel to keep warm whilst you cook the rest
You can freeze the balls of dough too... when they are defrosted they will be a bit stickier so you will need more flour when rolling out-but they roll out bigger after freezing too
A firm fave in our house - Thanks MrsM.:T
Also works well with self raising flour if that's what you have in - just omit the baking powder!
It's only a game
