I'm new to this board so please forgive me if what I say has been covered in previous posts - I don't have enough time to go through the whole 78 pages. I applied on-line and Barclays wrote back on 13th January and I opened the account on 16th, at the branch. I deposited my first £k on 19th and my second 29 days later on 17th February. I haven't heard anything since, so called the number on the Barclays letter from 13th January today (25 days after my second deposit). The woman there said that I will receive my £100 28 days after the second deposit, not a day before. I live in hope.

So a bank released an offer with a giant hole in the T&C's that could be exploited and which was spotted and the information passed on to a few hundred thousand people. And you've only just realised it's a shambles and they were overwhelmed? I think Barclays spotted this on Jan 19th about Midday!

    Ok... point taken ;)

I received a letter today stating that an account has been opened and a cheque book and pay in slips would be sent to me in due course. However, if I wanted to pay money into my account sooner, I could take the letter into my local branch (80 miles away) and they would accept a pay-in. As this did not sound like an online account, I phoned Barclays and after a couple of transfers, was given an online membership number. My passcode had also arrived today, so after one failed log - in attempt and another call to Barclays, I now have an online account. No mention of my £100 however. Still, I do have the letter from their complaints manager stating the terms of the £100 payment so I should not have too many problems!!!!
  • I have had my second statement following the excellent advise but not seen the £100 appear anywhere yet.
Am I being a little impatient?
I can't find the original offer to print in order to go to the Bank and ask.
Has anyone yet had the £100.

Maybe, depends when you paid in your second £1k, the bonus £100 appears 28 days after.
2p off is still 2p off!

What a c**p account. Not only do they have this paltry interest rate, they also only allow max £1,000 movement (payments, transfers) per day online. You can do more, but you then have to ring them or go to a branch.

I am sure Barclays would say this is for my own security blah blah but I prefer an account that lets me use my money online as I see fit (and that pays more than an insulting rate of interest).

Romford, I wouldn't bother with asking your local branch anything about it; most of them don't seem to know about the offer and it's nothing to do with them. When I opened the account, the woman at the branch not only had never heard of it, she nearly refused to make the transaction, saying that I would blame her if I didn't receive the money and she wasn't having that! It took two visits and calls to the helpline before she'd do the paperwork - I also had to PROMISE not to blame her if anything went wrong with the £100.

The money gets paid into these accounts by a completely separate office. (of course, that's if it does get paid in - St Patrick's day is my 28th day)
