  • Quick bit of advice on the Barclays offer, I opened the account on the 18th Jan and received the account info on the 14th Feb. Due to a rather hectic few weeks I was not able to pay in the £1K until 7th March. My question is when should I pay in the second £1K ? is it in the next calender month or should it be 31 days or more later ?

Since they haven't clarified in their T&C you're free to interpret it as you wish. Under the Unfair Contract Terms Act, they can't reject paying you just because they had a different interpretation.

I managed to open an account, and have just paid in the second grand.

Watching with interest when the £100 will appear....

I received a letter on Saturday 4th March stating that they had received my complaint and were looking into it. After following comments on this site, I was not holding my breath and had all but given up. However, this morning I received a phone call from a very nice guy from the complaints department who asked me what had been going on. After relating the whole saga, he told me to go into a Woolich, Royal Bank of Scotland or my own bank and ask them to photocopy my ID and verify the copy by stamping it as a true copy of the original. Once this was done I could send them the copies and they would open my account. He did begin, however, by asking me to sign a mandate paying my salary into the account, but once I explained I wanted to stick with my original bank he said this would not be a problem. I explained I am way over the time from when I applied online to qualify for the £100 offer but he said this would not matter as it was their fault. I have also to contact him should I encounter any problems. Maybe there is light at the end of the Barclays tunnel after all. Watch this space!![/QUOTE
Ireceived afoolow up letteron Monday going over the phone call with explicit instructions as how to open the account. It also states I will receive my £100 following the second £1000 deposit. The Customer Relations Manager is keeping my complaint open for 8 weeks during which time I have a direct line to him should I encounter any problems. The Royal Bank of Scotland photocopied my documents without any problem and they have now been returned to Barclays. So far , So good.

So far....I've had a trouble-free run with all of this. I was fortunate to be accepted without the need for a trip to a local branch so I deposited my first £1K last month and have just done a 2nd transfer today for the next £1K.

However, at no time have I received any correspondence or email to mention the eligibility of the £100. I decided to call the 0845 number given to existing account holders - the woman I spoke to said "what £100 offer?" which I thought was good start (!), anyway after putting me hold for what seemed an eternity, she came back clearly stating I was eligible and the £100 would be credited to my account following the 2nd deposit. She didn't mention the 28 days but assume this would apply.

So if you're not sure and want some reassurance, give them a call and hopefully it will be as straightforward as my experience - although judging from some of the posts, it appears I am one of the lucky ones!

I filled in the on line application PM on the 18th. Received e mail on the 24th Jan, due to popular demand etc. Further e mail on 1st Feb, welcome to on line banking and my membership number etc. Deposited the 2 required sums of money at my local branch with the paying in book provided. 1 on 6th Feb and 1 on 6th March. Rang the 0500 number today to be told I'm not on the list of recipients for £100 my complaint would be logged and I would hear from them in the next 48 hours.
Not heard anything as yet so rang the 0500 number to be told my complaint is still under investigation and I would hear something shortly.

I paid my 1st £1000 in on 26 Feb, then the 2nd on 9 March.

I am now going to wait 28 days, if I dont hear anything by 9 April I am going to start chasing them.

I may put £1000 in on 26 March just to be safe.

Got a feeling the 9th of March will be too early, best to do it on the 26 of March as well.

Has anybody had the £100 Yet?

I paid £1,000 in on the 28th Feb. Went back in the next day (1st March) took it out and then paid it back in again and then out again. No money in now.

Confused the guy behind the counter who had to fill in several forms due to new conditions on withdrawals over £999.

I have had the e-mail saying i will get it and now over a week since 2nd £1,000.

Is it 28 days or 28 working days?
