I just applied in my name only - same question as a couple of otehr moneysavers - do you think my husband could apply too and we could get £200??? Or do you think that would go against us, as they would be credit seraching the same address??
We've both applied, but left 3 days between applications. Rang the freephone 0500 number this evening to find we've both been accepted.

I probably wouldn't leave it as long as we did if I was applying now though, as it could be withdrawn without notice if it becomes too popular!

PRECISELY when must we make the 2 x 1000 quid deposits ...... 30 days apart? or on the same date e.g the 18th of the month? ....so many days after on-line application etc. etc.
HELP MARTIN PLEASE - I would HATE Barclays to find a loophole to avoid shelling out.
If you can't wait for the paperwork to arrive, why not ring them on freephone 0500 007234 - the application helpline number given on their website?

When a search is carried out, the bank will only see other people's credit files with the same surname at the same address IF there is a financial association between them. For example, a couple would have to have an existing current account in joint names, or a mortgage in joint names.

If both of you are not barclays customers, there is no reason why you can't apply each for single name accounts and pocket £200.

Thanks for your help guys! I might as well give it a go and apply for one in my husband's name!
  • Well I got to stage 5 and then back to stage 1 again. It won't go past stage 1. What time of the day did everyone else apply?

I applied yesterday at about this time and it seemed to work ok. Just keep trying!!
  • Ok, just a few questions before I apply for myself and my fiancee:

    1) Can I deposit the money and remove it the same day? I've seen mentioned that the money must clear/show on the account. I can transfer instantly via internet banking. I was thinking of leaving it a day. Would this suffice?

    2) I have a barclays current account yet in the terms and conditions posted in another post, it says "offer available to non-barclays personal current account holders who open a barclays account"

This confuses me a bit. I am a barclays customer, I have a graduate current account BUT is this a "personal" account? Do I qualify to open the account?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Providing that the money is 'deposited' into your account and it comes up as being there in your balance figure, then you can withdraw it straight away if you so wish. It may take a couple of days though if you are transferring from one bank to another.

I'm not sure as to whether you qualify as you already have a type of current account - I guess it would probably be best to check with Barclays and see.

Happened to me twice yesterday but managed to get there in the end.

As advised by someone else and mentioned in the tips might be bst to leave it for a few days, however don't think you'd be eligible as you already have a current account with Barclay's, don't think the type of account makes a difference just if you have one or not.
