I was thinking about doing this with my wife, so I open the account, applied just now, move £1000 pounds in from my main account, then have my wife open an account, move that original £1000 in to her new account, in the next month she moves it back to my new account and then I move it back to hers, and wait for the £100 to arrive after 28 days.....
Is this what everyones doing?? Also one small question, whats a month?? When would one month end and the next one start??Want to be Mortgage Free ASAPJanuary 2007 -£224566.75

Would they accept a visit in their local branch for authentication and document checking? Or is this 'online offer' not contemplating the personal checks of documents?
They do an Online id check through Experian by asking you a couple of security questions as part of application process.0 -
Bother, I have a leter from them today saying that I have been refused due to a credit score. Guess opening all those accounts for bungs finally caught up with me0

Just applied. Went nice and smoothly. Will be interesting to see what happens as i'm a student. When you select the "student" occupation option, it gives an error and tries to throw you off to go look at student & grad accounts... but a second click of the continue button moves you onto the next screen
Usually banks can't resist the student business, another £100 in pocket me thinks on this one. Although all the current accounts I have, and cash-back cards might just catch up with me too:cool:
This is fun, almost like a game.0 -
I just applied but I do not have a passport or driving licence - they say they'll want one of these to prove identity. Surely I'm not the only one.0

Just completed the application form for my Barclays account. Here's hoping I'm accepted and get my £100.
Good luck everyone, and thanks Martin0 -

Onlineid check? This is the first time I hear about it. They might surely check the credit score but how would they check identity (who tells it is me and not someoneelse filling the form?)
Also, this is what I see from them:

The equifax online identity check asks you multiple-choice questions about existing accounts on your equifax credit file... for example, my first one was my egg money card... it says something like "you opened a credit card account around november 2005, answer the following"... 1... "what is the provider of this account? a. MBNA, b. prudential (egg) c. etc".... 2... "what was the balance at your last statement? a. less than £199, b. 200-249, c 250-300, d. etc"... goes onto things like what is your credit limit... then asks you all over again for a second account!
Very clever and quite good if you ask me!
Before you apply for the account, it does clearly state if you are not on the electrol roll you will find it easier applying in a branch. If you don't have an accounts on your credit file I guess you have to provide other id. I suspect if you pass the online check you dont have to provide any physical id!0 -
I just applied in my name only - same question as a couple of otehr moneysavers - do you think my husband could apply too and we could get £200??? Or do you think that would go against us, as they would be credit seraching the same address??0

Why not keep one pound in this account instead of closing it ( having grabbed your 100 quid)? That way we continue to screw Barclays as it will cost them money to administer. As its a current account it shouldnt affect your credit rating should it. Comments???
I have the same Q as Sir Peter .... PRECISELY when must we make the 2 x 1000 quid deposits ...... 30 days apart? or on the same date e.g the 18th of the month? ....so many days after on-line application etc. etc.
HELP MARTIN PLEASE - I would HATE Barclays to find a loophole to avoid shelling out.0
