Our 14 yr old lab had to be rushed to the vets last night. Her heart had given up, and the vet said without even checking anything that is was time to let her go._pale_
I couldnt believe they just did it there and then, but Im glad they did as me, OH and the 3 kids were all giving her a hug as she finaly closed her eyes.
It was horrible, Weve all been crying all night. Had her since she was a 6week old fluff ball.
Its so strange not having her here, The cats have been sniffing her collar all morning and looking for her. Im wandering around the house wondering what to do, I dont even want to hoover up the dog hairs as its like im removing her completly from her home.

very, very sorry to hear about your dog. I know how it feels but a least she had a good life with you and you were with her at the end. It takes time to get over but remember all the good times you had with her. very sorry againsonnyboy0

So Sorry about losing your lab, We have a 6mth old lab pup and she has become so much part of the family in a short space of time that I can't imagine our house without her, so I can understand the loss you are going through.
Take time to grieve and do something to remember that the whole family can get involved in - like planting a tree in the garden or something similar.

You must be feeling incredibly sad, but comfort yourself with the fact that you cared for her so well that she lived to a great age, and enjoyed her life with you right up to the end..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I`m typing this with tears streaming down my face (yet again). Our 13 year old rescue dog (we brought her back from Madeira) when she was about 6 months old, deteriorated rapidly 4 days ago- we took her to the vets, where they put her on a drip, but her kidneys had apparently failed. We went in to say goodbye to her this morning- she lay on the table, wagging her tail, & gave my hand a lick, before she was put to sleep. We have brought her home & buried her, next to our other old dog, a lab X who died 18 months ago. At the moment, I feel my heart is going to break, I miss her so very much. My sympathies go to you, believe me, I know exactly how you are feeling right now.0

I just wanted to say how sorry I am. To lose a member of your family is awful, and I feel so sad for you.0

so sorry you are going through this...it is normal to feel devastatingly sad, you have just lost a much-loved member of your family. i lost my cat to cancer in June, i still think of her everyday still but the tears are turning in to smiles and fond memories now, slowly but surely...it will be the same for you...many hugs x0

I am so so sorry - both to you and to red arrow on the recent losses of your dogs - they trust us so much and are so loyal, it really hurts when they leave us. However, both your dogs have been happy, loved and cared for - which is all a dog ever really wants in life, and which so many sadly do not get.
When I lost my last little dog, Che, (who I had rescued from an abandoned house ten years ago), in spring almost two years ago now, I was shocked by how much grief I went through. I did briefly think 'never again', but then I read a poem about how a dogs legacy, if they could write one, would be to give their place in your home and heart to some lonely, unloved stray, less fortunate than they have been - this inspired me, so six months later I got little Badger (a funny little mongrel and the sweetest dog going!) from a local dog rescue and am so glad I did!
In time the loss does get easier, but it is a bereavement, and is as painful as any other (maybe more so in some ways, as our dogs are utterly dependant on us), so give yourself time and permission to grieve for your loyalpals.0 -
I'm so sorry Op & red arrow. 14 was a great age for a Lab & i'm sure you gave her a wonderful life x0
