    Just a quick post......

Does anybody have a pattern to knit a baby blanket approx 100cm x 100cm ....

I'm not a whizz at knitting, but can cast on/off knit and purl, i've seen loads but most have fancy edging on which i wouldn't even attempt.

If you've got one, i'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks folks x
I did a dolls pram blanket when my dd was little. I knitted squares in lilac, pink & white then sewed them together. The pattern I used was called Basket Weave its really pretty. If memory serves me the amount of stitches must be divisible by 3. I used 21. Knit 3, purl 3 for 4 rows then purl 3, knit 3 for 4 rows. Carry on until the square is the size you want then cast off. Then sew it up like a patchwork quilt. I edged mine in ribbon that I just hand sewed up the sides.

HTH. If I've remembered the number of stitches incorrectly I'm sure there's some good knitters on here that will corect it :T
  • Visitors gone home now, boo hoo. Amazing how much we can still find to talk about after (or perhaps because of) 45+ years of friendship. One of the presents I gave to my friend was a copy of a photograph of the two of us strolling down the prom at Great Yarmouth in 1964. Our DHs managed to come out with the correct comment "you haven't changed a bit"
  • Hi

Just spending the day trying to get on top of the housework after xmas but with DS in the house it isn`t easy:rolleyes: .He has only looked at 2 of his xmas presents, the rest have lain in the corner since xmas day and he hasn`t looked..autism is a funny thing:rolleyes:
Had huge "to do" with Halifax on the phone earlier:mad:
I have had to put a few kitchen appliances ( oven, fridge freezer, washer etc) on my credit card over last year and it has built up to 5 and a half grand:eek: which I am concentrating on paying off asap.
This month however I only wanted to pay minimum amount due to xmas.
I went online at the start of Dec and set the minimum payment to come out on the 12th ( a week before due date).
When I looked online yesterday my credit limit has been reduced from 13 thousand to 5 thousand 8 hundred:eek: ......it says I have missed a payment. I rang up yesterday but only got automated thing...it said i owed 6 pounds on my account so I made a 10 pound payment yesterday to cover this.
I phoned them today to see what was going on....apparently only 78 pounds was paid when minimum payment was 84.....I didnt put any figures in I just set it to minimum payment and assumed thats what they would take out.
Anyway that is why they have reduced my credit limit because they class that as missing a payment.
I have put a complaint in as this was a genuine mistake which I rectified as soon as I knew about it. I pointed out that I have been a customer for 18 years and have never had a late payment before and it was 6 pounds not 600:rolleyes: .
They have told me that due to the current situation if anyone makes a late payment they will have their limit cut with no notice!!! So beware everyone.
OS wise have made a loaf and have a hotpot in the oven.
Cannot wait to get back to normal after the hols and sort house out and get OSing again.
Still considering a Remoska but not sure:think:

Hugs to Munchkin and also to the poorly cat!!
  • :hello: to everyone.

Mudgekin - so sorry to hear your news - sounds like you both have a wonderful positive attitude though which will prove to be a godsend.

Pink-winged - your poor pusscat. At least you were able to get her to the vets promptly though and she'll manage fine without her tail, although I suspect she might fall out of a few trees until she gets used to the idea that she no longer has it for balance!

Bits and pieces to do here today - we have taken advantage of the half price whole salmon in Tesco this morning, £7.38 for a HUGE fish! Got them to fillet the flesh off into sides and asked to take the trimmings as well - ended up with three lots of trimmings as I got a fish for Mum too and the fishmonger also chucked in the trimmings from the fish he'd done before ours! Nice man! There will be a nice pot of stock going on in a moment. I've also got to cook the remaining potatoes plus a swede which is languishing in the larder and mash those together for freezing, and make the fudge for Brother/sister in laws. Off to Devon tomorrow so will make cous cous salad for lunch on the way so that's another job. Other than that we have the last of the presents to wrap to take with us, and some general cleaning and tidying up round here to do also. We're goinhg to break it all down into half-hour chunks which should make it more palatable.

We ventured to our local factory outlet centre this morning as MrEH had some shirts bought a while ago which turned out to be wrong that he wanted to return. I managed to get a pair of pillows in M&S for £5, also a new pair of my favourite Craghoppers walking trousers for £9.99 - they'll need taking up a few inches but that's not the end of the world. Other than that MrEH got an extra christmas pressie - he needed a big bag for his rugby kit on match days which I'd promised to buy him - as luck would have it the Nike store had them reduced by 50% so I only paid £7! :rotfl: I also managed to get a few more bits for my new project - card making. No excuse not to get stuck in now! Only other bargain was a pack of pine nut kernels in Julian Graves half price sale! (I always buy enough to last me through when they are half price).

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Afternoon all! :hello:

The tree came down yesterday as we can't see the point of of it when it's all over. I cut it up today for the fire, but......OMG!!!! When I put a couple of small branches on, the fire flared up at an alarming rate and I had to put the grate across it as it was very scary! It's calmed down now, but I absolutely wasn't expecting that, so will proceed with the rest of the tree with extreme caution from now on.

Have done a very small shop today; I was going to get more, but then thought to myself 'No!!! Use what you've got first.', as the cupboards, fridge etc. are still chocka with stuff. So I will try to last until February now, only buying fresh veg etc. as and when we need it.

A very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2009 to everyone out there!

    Kind regards,

    Dutchy xx

PS. Pink-Winged; I'm SO sorry to hear about your little cat. As a passionate animal lover myself, I am furious on your behalf that anybody can be so irresponsible to leave a trap set that's clearly extremely dangerous and cruel. I'm sure Tilly will be fine, and she'll soon get used to being tail-less. Give her a stroke and a cuddle from me please xx
Toto, something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore......
  • Hugs to Mudgekin and DH.
Interested hear result of your dilemma Tru, are we placing bets? Personally I’d go with the chocs and film.
Mrsmortenharket, sounds as if you have a very positive approach to your future “one wage” lifestyle. Looking at your sig you are off to a very good start in 2009.
Flaire I didn’t get any Christmas socks so will just have to leave the heating on - again!
Pooky – our oldest cat has funny eating habits – she loves collecting cobwebs (these are in the garden, not the house, honestly!) and our other cat is sat on my lap washing my (bargain) jade/silver ring I got at an antiques fair yesterday (with some Christmas money).
Pink-winged, poor Tilly, hope she will be ok, imagine she is quite traumatised. My two cats send her purry. furry hugs.

Good afternoon and I hope that everyone is doing fine - apart from those suffering with the cold. Some positive threads on here and you all have my admiration, whatever adversity you're facing. Sorry to hear about Tilly's tail (or should that be tale?) Pink-winged

My DH has been sneezing and sniffling since yesterday. It's not man flu, yet ;)

Managed to get a load of towels dry outside, so they're now just airing inside. It's the slightest of breezes, but enough to drive off some moisture obviously. I'm so pleased when I can get stuff dried outside at this time of year.

Having a quiet night in tonight and going to have roasted veg lasagne and salad for tea.

Phew - don't know what I did there, but thought I'd lost this and was going to have to start all over again
  • Nesssie - it's warmer with you than with us today - been hovering around the 1 - 2 degC mark all day here, and I see from my little weather gadget on the Vista desktop that you're a good couple of degrees warmer. There is certainly no chance we could get washing dry outside here today, although of course your "slight breeze" is what people here would be caling a howling gale! :rotfl:

well a mildly succesful day today tried to go to lakeside thought it would be a bit quieter after 2pm no it was heaving couldnt even get a space to park so went to town instead had a quick look in Woolies but very little left despite 7 days left. Was walking past the dancing/dress shop and saw a dress for DD1s prom in the colour she wanted so dragged her in as it was £70 unfortunatly it didnt fit and the zip managed to break:eek: as the lady was undoing it(thank goodness it was her not me) still it looked absolutly gorgeous on a lovely dark red with black sequins on the bodice so we have ordered one for DD it was £165 but got it down to £120 so i left £45 dep and can pay the rest in installments.
kids are having tea everyone is having something different so not too bad as am doing in micro need to get bread and milk tomorrow but should be ok till jan
