i would love to be a midwife, always said i wanted to be one but would have no idea how to go about being one!! x0

Hi Rags
I wish you all the luck in the world training to be a midwife, I too am a midwife and loved my job, but came out of it this year for lot's of reason and am now fostering. I too did the 18 month course and it was the hardest thing I ever did the training is very stressful but if it's your goal I am sure you will achieve it....good luck if you need any advice regarding your application/training/interview please let me know as it's stiff competion getting in, in some unis.

hey everyone.
am a bit shame faced today as the childcare cheque has cleared quicker than usual and put me over the overdraft limit:o have done so well with the balancing act on the line of the limit but now finally been pushed off. Get paid tomorrow so hopefully wont occur that much in the way of a fine. still a bit miffed off about it though.
Ds1 starts school this afternoon and he is well excited, have had to hide his school uniform as he keeps trying to put it on, bless. He really needs a new winter coat but that will have to wait for now and he will have to make do.
Ds2 is really teething at the mo and getting his bottom "fangs". makes for a very grumpy baby who is trying to bite everything, including me!!!!! not so bad when he tried it and didnt have any teeth but now he really sinks them in!
Stiill not got round to ebaying either
but have nearly got a tenner on one of my scratcheez and did a pinecone survey yesterday so another £4 winging its way. still not used the last lot so will have £8. might save them up for something now i dont need to go to mr a's every week for baby milk. Could be a nice chunk off the next lot of wipes and nappies??!! keeping an eye out for anymore surveys. am up to nearly £15 on pure profile surveys, only a tenner to go (and that has taken me since last year:eek:)
right, off to think of more money saving/making ideas. think the midwifery may have to wait till we are in a better place finacially (by the end of next year hopefully)
what are you all up to??
love rags

Hi Rags just to let you know when I started my training I was seconded by the authority that I worked for as a staff nurse and because I was already a D grade staff nurse I automatically went up to a MID E whilst doing my training (which was a great help) only thing is I dont know how you will stand getting paid due to you working in a nursing home, I guess it's always worth contacting the university just to see what pay you will get once on the course.
Good luck please message me if you need any help

hey pixie, from what i can gather it is still paid the same way. my nurse training was done the same way but only got £500 a month then. from what i have been told told by a mate was that you get paid the basic grade D/ band 5 wage but might give the uni a ring to make sure.
Thank you for your offer of help, will def be taking you up on the offer. By the way, how hard was the hardest thing you have done????? i thought qualifying as a nurse was hard at times.............................. i really wanna do it but if it thats hard it may be worth doing it when ds2 is a little older so will be able to give it my all and then some. The uni i will be applying to is the same one i did my nurse training and i am hoping that it makes me a more likely candidate.December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22
