  • Our fixed rate ends in november so makes sense to wait till then, although i think our mortgage advisor (my fella's cousin so has our best interests at heart) is gonna go through our options next month some time. Our friend was on the same mortgage as us paying nearly the same and his has dropped by £300 this month so fingers crossed ours can drop in november!

ventured into home bargains today thinking they may have a lunchbox or two for ds1 (they didnt) and walked out with a space hopper type bouncer (think pheobe in friends) and has been the best £3 i have spent in a while!! ds1 loves it and hasnt stopped bouncing on it! great way of getting rid of his excess energy when its raining.;):D

  • Hi there, just 2 say we had a fixed mortgage that ran out in feb 09 and were adviced not 2 remortgage by our fin advisor bcos the int rates are so low at the minute. So far in the last 6 months we have saved about £360 by just going onto the svr of the ones we had the fixed term out with, but if the int rates look like they are going 2 go up i would remorgage back 2 a fixed rate again cos at least u know what u are paying each month, its just a matter of getting the timing right. Hope that helps!
  • Rags,

I know you're a nurse and I've mentioned this before....

Wife is doing her botox course soon. Not cheap by any means (£700 for a day!) and the insurance is about £600 too.

We've got people booked in advance for treatment already. And the going rate is £175-£200 a go (and believe me the botox vials dont cost that much!)

We're about as skint as you (£20K+) and maybe this will help us out big time. If it all works out, wife is planning to drop her hours in the hospital to one day a week and concentrate on the botox.

Now I know you're in the North West so you're not going to start up and nick our business !! (We're in Newport, South Wales).
  • Hey all,
not much going on in the debt freeness world here, will have to wait till next week when the loan money comes out.

My and my fella have been talking and my plan has changed slightly, am now gonna concentrate on paying of the egg1 card as has the least on and the 0% runs out first (albeit next year) then the egg2 card then the hbos card. Figure it would be better to pay off the 0% cards first so that when it runs out next year we wont have a balance on it and will always be paying interest on the hbos card. May even be able to transfer some of the balance over next year as egg give you more 0% deals on the first anniversary of having the card (if its not paid off by then.......)

So when i get paid in 2 weeks, i will be getting the boys some clothes (as really dont have enough in my clothes account yet as only started last month) and the rest will be going on the egg1 card which will bring it under £1k and will be great for a motivational boost!

Still not got the motivation to do some ebaying even though i really know i should as have added to the amount with the boys old clothes that no longer fit.

Off on a hen do this sat and the wedding is next fri, am so excited!!! have got my dress ready although it is a little on the tight side so am trying to slim into it. Have given up all the bad stuff like crisps, biscuits and cake and the like and replaced it with fruit and veg and healthy stuff. Also given up on the caffene (sp?) and even though i didnt use to drink that much, am still feeling the effects of withdrawel!!!! have nearly had a cup of tea once or twice to stop the headache but glad now that i havent given in...........:D

Still not got my rota for next month so not sure how much overtime i will have but am doing well and not had a day off sick in 12 weeks, even though i have been soooo tired and ds2 been up a few times in the night. All for money, figure the less days off i have the more overtime they may give me.......... we shall see.

thanks paul again for the botox hint, but really dont have the money for either the course or the insurance...........and would still be terrified of giving someone a trout pout or something...............

right, thats it for me, hope everyone is ok?

Hi rags i think paying of the egg card is a good idea! It will give you a good boost as you will see it going down quicker as there is not any interest being added!
I have to get some more clothes next mth! Always the way they grow tooo fast!!! Little freya needs some 3-6 ones!! i cant believe she is sooo big already.....

Have a good time at the hen do.....

  • Right my wipeboard is now in the bedroom by the door with a list of how much we owe on everything so we can see it everyday in the hope it will stop us spending on things we dont need! OH actually spent 20 mins staring at it this morning, it is the first time i think what we owe has finally sunk in, he hears me say the figures all the time but never has seen it written down.

Have worked out though that if i keep getting the overtime we should have the egg1 card paid off in 2-3 months and can the concentrate on the egg2 card which i am hoping to pay off by feb/march next year (before the 0% runs out at least)

Also hoping that our mortgage repayments come down a little in nov when we renew so we can add that money to debt busting too and get the total down quicker!!

As always though these are the best possible outcomes and knowing how jinxed i am (as you have all seen these past few months) then anything can happen and throw my plans out the window...........................

AND I NEED TO START EBAYING!!!!!!!!!!

Getting my hair done tonight (:D) so wont be doing any tonight, think i will wait till after the school hols now to do some, think quite a lot of my stuff is winterish anyways so given the weather it should sell ok.

Ds1 being a right pain in the bum at the minute, really dont know where his attitude and answering back has come from??!!!!! i actually dont want to take him out anywhere as his behavior is rubbish and really tries my patience.

I cant believe it is august on sat, how fast is this year going??? will be xmas before we know it!!! am looking forward to not struggling this year as saving for it every month.

Keep up the good work everyone!!

RAGS GET EBAYING - i hate doing it but have managed to list 30 items since friday and have already made £40 and still have some stuff to end over the next few days, once you start doing it and seeing bids you will get motivated to add more.

Enjoy having your hair done, need to have mine done just hav'nt had the time.

Is ds about to start school, i found with both of mine they had serious attitude just before they started school, friends and parents of children that i looked after all said the same,When i worked at the pre-school we came to the conclusion it was because they were the oldest and think they know it all cos there going to school and can boss the younger ones around, once they start school they get better as they go back to being the youngest and can't tell 11 year olds what to do iyswim.
  • Your right, i NEED to get ebaying and am pledging that i will try and do some, even if i only list one item a day. well done on your amount miemie, £40 is a fantastic amount.

Think i will spend a few hours taken photos of my items so then they are uploaded onto my computer and i can just do the rest when i have a moment using turbolister and upload at night (once all the soaps have finished). I hope i can make it bit from all 5 bin bags full of stuff...................even have some digital kitchen scales that i might put on, it is a bit tempremental and works when it wants, but someone might buy it and fix it????? stranger things have sold!!!!

Might even go through the boys toys and sell any good ones that they dont play with anymore............might then have room for new ones by the time xmas comes around............

  • just when i thought i had it all worked out, work go and take on another nurse meaning the chance of overtime now is slim................pants. will be getting my rota today so shall see.

with all the deductions in stuff like mortgage and childcare coming up the overtime would have pushed my debt payments to near £1k a month and would have seen my figures drop nicely, but will have to watch the pennies and just use the extra from the deductions to overpay. and ebay when i finally get some time to do it..........

How is everyone? my slimming into my dress challenge is going suprisingly well although the scales havent budged. Cutting out the caffiene and using gluten free bread and pasta has stopped me bloating up a huge amount, plus that and the amount of stuff i am taking too. Have my tablet pre meal for my ibs, then a peppermint capsule for after to aid digestion, then have deflatum for when i am bloated and spirilina twice a day to help my tummy and bowels. My bag is like a walk in chemist!!!!! started back on doing my stomach crunches and have been shown an excersise to help tone the lower abdominals (my problem area from having babies) so have been doing them morning and night................not sure how long it takes before i start seeing the results though.

Ds2 is so trying hard to walk at the mo, he took 5 steps yesterday!!!!!!:D will stand there holding on to furniture with his hand in the air because he wants you to hold his hand and walk with him. he loves it and charlie loves it when we chase him around the room like that, even stopping once in a while so we can catch him much to the delight of ds2.

Its the end of the month today (july has just disappeared) and another 12 hour shift, but today wont be so bad as will be celebrating a residents 101st birthday!!!!! and they are still going strong!!!!!! its amazing.

right, have waffled on enough, time for a fruit tea..................
