  • Hiya Im new to all this but will sign in most days to see whats going on.....my life is hectic to with children and hubby and Im finding all these challenges interesting....whats the grocery challenge I love the sound of that one,Im allowing £100 pw but am begining to think thats quite a lot ,I reckon I could get it down to £50......I have 1 credit card with £3000 on and thats our debts.....and it must go.....dont forget to cancel your RENEWAL!!!!!!!!!!
    :hello:Time2start a new year diet for a new me:j
  • yaya.gifhi and welcome paris!!! the grocery challenge is on the old style board and is basically trying to get the grocery bill down as much as possible month by month till you can go no lower, using things like bulk buying, batch cooking etc.

ooh that reminds me i got a massive box of washing powder from mr m's the other day. it says it will do 70 washes (i will get over 100 out of it) and cost £9.79, good when the box of powder that does 50 washes was £9.78!!!!!! now that was a good deal. going to look at our local cash and carry (dont have a costco near here) and price up things i use often to buy in bulk. might clear off a few shelves in the shed to store my bulk items. they do the commercial size tubs of herbs which i may have to invest in as always using them. can do this this month as given myself an extra £50 to play with and get stocked up.

right am off to make myself a hm version of a lemsip as this blinking cold has come back to haunt me............................

  • hope the hm lemsip does the job!!
I didnt think about costcos etc, im sure my mum has a membership so might have to get her to take me once a mth or something! See if i can get some bargains......We also use loads of the herbs etc so might be worth looking into a bigger pot! The small supermarket ones do not last very long!!

Anyway hope the cold doesnt stick around to long! I feel a little more alive today, lucky as i have lots to do!!

    Hi rags

Sounds like your having one of those mornings, don't forget Tesco insurance.
Is the washing powder branded or morrison's own, Last week i got 2 boxes of Asda own for £10 says 50 washes in each box but like you will get more.
I was in Kendal this morning buying school shoes, does'nt feel as cold as earlier in the week.

    Hello Rags & all x x

Which washing powder did you get from Mr M's? It sounds like a bit of a bargain.

  • it was persil non bio!!!!!! would try the own brands but ds1 gets eczema, oh has psoraisis and im allergic to certain brands so stick to the ones i know we can all use!

the weather has gone very mild here today, not half as bad as it has been!!

ds2 really suffering with this second tooth coming through, is biting anything and everything he can get his hands (and mouth) on!! think i have got shares in teething stuff at the mo!!! he loves his bonjela teething tooth as he can hold it and chew it himself. keep it in the fridge but wonder whether sticking it in the freezer for half an hour might give him some more relief??!!

am off to ring tesco's before i forget!!!!!

    Hi rags

that's a good price for Persil and its not worth making everyone miserible and suffering with their skin just to save a few pence.
Have you tried teething granules with your little one, used them with mine and worked really well, i think i bought them in boots but i might be wrong as its been at least 3 years since mine were teething.

    miemie
  • currently using nelsons teething granules and bonjela at the moment so i can use calpol/nurofen if it gets really bad. the only problem with the bonjela is that he licks it off your finger before you have got near his gums!!!! he's like a baby possessed!!!!!!!!:rotfl: least the granules melt with his saliva so cant lick it off!!!!!!

rang tesco's and cancelled. they offered me a new deal where i pay £220 insurance and they will send me a £30 gift card. that would of worked out cheaper if i had a tesco near me!!!! nearest one to me is half an hour away and not a major store so doesnt sell much else apart from food.

have also got very organised and wrote on my calender when everything is due for renewal, made a note the month earlier too so i have a month to find the best deal...............
