10 mins from nearest town you could walk to town!!
we lived in a town and lived 25mins walk from town centre where shops were i walked there and got paid £1.73 an hr to work in shoe shop when i was 15 (i am only 28 now)
i had a paper round after school at 13 and cycled an hr every night and on saturdays for £10 a week.
if you want a job and want to earn money then you will make sacrifices and find solutions to getting into town etc rather than problems.
Most 16yr olds i know that are in education either yr11 or yr 12 tend to babysit, wash cars, walk dogs, cat sit for people on holiday, gardening, cleaning.0 -
I have to agree about the bein 10mins from nearest town situation, it wouldn't take you long on a bus, or you could cycle if you have a bike (and if you don't, keep an eye on freecycle). When i was 14 it took me an hour and 25 mins to get to school!
However if you want to stay local, there's been alot of good suggestions from other posters. Another is doing other peoples ironing, know a few people who do this as a little booster for their income.0 -
At 15 I got my first job at football ground.
At 17 I got my second job at a fast food place (and continued other job).
I got 3 decent A Levels whilst working 2 jobs.
Get off your backside. If you want a job go and find one instead of asking on forums for other people to do the work for you.0 -
I see why you're saying it, but seeing as the O/P is a new poster anyway it probably wouldnt kill you to cut him a tiny bit of slack. The fact that 10mins really isn't far *has* been raised, albeit in slightly more polite terms...On the up

it's easy for people to say "get a job" but i know it's not that easy. especially now that xmas is over and companies aren't taking alot of people on. i spent about a year trying to get my first job. that was with a decent CV for a 16 yr old (volunteering, work experience, good GCSEs). i'd just suggest going around every shop in your local area/nearest town and handing in a CV or asking for application form. Not all businesses advertise vacancies in windows.. and what's the worst that can happen? you'll give up an hour or two and people will say no?? their loss. i made extra pocket money for doing odd jobs for family/neighbours...like going to shops for them, washing cars, cleaning etc. If not why not ask an older friend/relative to sell a few things on Ebay for you. You're 16, you're probably hoarding loads of rubbish you don't need anymore!!! Old clothes, games etc.
Other than that you could volunteer... it might not pay but it looks good on a CV and improves your chances when applying for a job.
good luck

i need more money haha
We all need more money - unfortunately, when you have real bills to pay you don't get to say 'ha ha'.
[/QUOTE] Basicly whats a good way i can earn money on the internet? ive heard about free lancing but i have no idea to start,

You can only 'freelance' if you have a skill you can offer that other people want to buy. You might want to spend some time reflecting on what skill that might be and why anyone would want to purchase that skill from you, as a 16 year old, rather than from the many thousands of others who are offering that skill.
I appreciate that is probably a bit hard but, in my experience, you tend to need a bit of truth at 16. Think about the future and work hard to get every bit of education available to you. Alongside that, get out there and tell everyone you know that you are willing to work hard doing any jobs that are available - and at your age, unless you are a child prodigy, those will be the jobs no-one else wants, I'm afraid. (Actually, there are plenty of gardening jobs to be done in the winter if it isn't too wet.)
Do any job you can and follow K8eh's excellent advice - and volunteering will look great on your CV and will give you an advantage in the future.
And, again, sorry if this sounds really hard, but if you can't find a way to do a ten minute journey (and turn up on time, every time) to where the jobs might be, I don't think you are currently motivated enough or committed enough to convince any employer to take you on.
I've got a stack of qualifications and a nice job and all the things that go with it. But I firmly believe that a big part of getting here was starting at 8 am every Saturday (and holidays) from when I was 14 until I left university on a freezing cold market stall (yes even in summer). And, if I recall, things were pretty bad in the job market then too...0 -
There is a difference between asking for advice and asking other people to do it for you.At 15 I got my first job at football ground.
At 17 I got my second job at a fast food place (and continued other job).
I got 3 decent A Levels whilst working 2 jobs.

I agree it's very hard to get a job at this age(i am also 16) but the key is to perservere, i have applied at a call centre TWICE in three months, but due to my age the cannot employ me (liability insurance reasons) but by the time i get a job with them, they will probably know my name and face off by heart :rotfl:
The best thing you can do right now is to visit connexions and the job centre to see if they can help you. In the mean time, i recommend you sell items and things on ebay, ask friends and family if you can do anything for them, helping to decorate is a good one, and keep your ears and eyes peeled for money making opportunities.

..xxI am only me, no pretences, no second guesses.. It's the best I can do, I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you... I'm sorry I'm not good enough for you :A0 -
i guess i should of said 10minutes in a car and to do it in 10minutes you have to go on the motorway, and walking there is relatively unsafe due to it being along main roads (50mph roads) with thin paths or country roads with no paths at all, ya know feel free to take your pick, and yeah there are buses but the route they take there is through another 3 villages in the area so its like a 40min bus ride
Thanks to people for actual helpful advice
and to the people who thought they may aswell troll my thread, go **** yourself0
