I was just thinking how impressed I am with the way the lists get done quickly by some people! Now please all tell me that your children are older and don't make as much mess as my three (four if you include the husband)
Although looking at the state of my desk it's not just them! However I'm sure half of the stuff on there belongs to other people (I don't think this lego drawbridge is mine) or it's stuff that DD2 has handed to me after "rescuing" it out of a box/drawers I've already put it away into!
Mine are 15, 19 and 48 (I class hubby as a big kid too...) and sometimes I get through my lists quick and sometimes not
I think the biggest thing is being on top of stuff as much as you can - keeping to the lists helps me do that, so when I can't do something, it's still not too bad when it comes round again. Mess is just mess, doesn't take long to pick up, as the general room is clean, and if you can keep on top of that (or nag and nag and nag until they pick up after themselves) it does help... I usually load up the stairs with everything they've left lying around and it gets picked up each time someone goes past (if I shout at them enough anyway) Because you've got littleun's mabye limit the amount of stuff they have downstairs and start training them early that they have to put away one thing before they can get another out...
And sometimes you just have to get on with it to knock it out - definitly recommend HHI's with music and singalongs for this - makes it all go so much quicker and not such a big task...
I know your bad health doesn't help, and it does make it hard - I've been really suffering for the last few months with my Asthma, getting out of breath at the littlest thing and just walking up the stairs is tiring me out, so little and often is my way to get done, can't just sit still me, even when I'm not well.
Hope that helps Gryfon, take care...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
Dusty - sending hugs for you and your nan (and the rest of the family too of course!)
We're just watching the first Indiana Jones with our two - they're loving it though there have been a few choice words during it!!! It's a PG so should be ok but must do the 'appropriate language' at school talk tomorrow!
They made a chicken korma with their dad this afternoon so we're all going to have that after the film. That'll save on a takeaway so I can take some more money off my credit card amount!
On the tv license - we should really stop paying ours as we hardly ever watch the tv and the children never ask to. We watch a few dvd's together and that's about it. Over Christmas we've watched about two hours and weren't that impressed with it. I take it i'd have to get rid of the tv and couldn't keep it to watch dvds? Could I just remove the aerial from the roof? Something to think about xx0 -
OOOOH finally. Our car got written off in November. The cheque from the insurance arrived today. Yeeehaw. We're only going to get a banger with what we got.....£1350, but a banger is better than nothing
I refuse to take out car finance.
Wow, that's a long time to sort things out... Our's was written off just before Christmas and I got £1000 - we got a really nice little Escort diesel hatchback for that, goes really well, very clean and I drive a lot (100+ miles a day sometimes) so you'll get a smashing little car for that, especially this time of year when people are selling stuff off to pay for Christmas (harsh I know, but you may as well benefit from it or someone else will)...
Right, up to page 81 now, so am going to go do dinner (we had a late lunch - didn't get sausage and mash yesterday, so having today instead...)...

The licence states 'to use any TV equipment such as a TV set, digital box, video or DVD recorder. computer or mobile phone to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on television'
My DS uses a TV for his PS3 but has removed all the arial cables etc - he spoke to the licence people before he did this and they told him it was ok.
You could always try ringing up and asking.0 -
Angelnikki, Hellsbells - Did you see this article?

Interesting reading.
Have just scanned the article. Can sympathise greatly with him. One of the most difficult parts of ME is acknowledging that you are ill and not being lazy or depressed. Although depression does come into it due mainly to constant tiredness and illnesses and of course frustration as most sufferers are highly driven. (I know I was, and just for a laugh I was a CPN to boot, not any more though haven't got the energy, plus being a single parent with two SEN children ...)
I have just finished the PACE technique, It has been very helpful and does help manage your fatigue. The most difficult time though is working out your triggers and energy drainers, excepting your limitations and remembering that it will pass when you have a relapse - I'm just coming out of a 4 month relapse. The problem with common sense is its not very common:rotfl:
How do you climb Mount Everest? One step at a time0 -
OYT Daer I am
:rotfl: oopsy, well it's still an anagram
Asda done, few bits put away got some nice carnations for the living room cause it was looking a bit bare after the tree went. Tea just scoffed.
Years and years ago me and my first hubby used to take out the aeriel and bung it in another room when we saw the license people coming, explained that we didn't have one so couldn't watch it, it worked like a charm....things are different now, and I would never dream of doing it now either
Right, brew, bar of Galaxy and a hot bubble bath await, then I'll settle down for celeb Big Brother :j
((((((((hugs to you all))))))))

Our aerial fell off of its own accord, it was lying in the gutter when we moved in, so we don't have one anyway.
you could keep a tv to watch DVD's etc but I would suggest it would be advisable to cut the plug bit off the cable so it couldn't be plugged in the TV if you wanted to.
Mind you in 17 years they have been round to the house 3 times, to 2 different addresses.. they pop their head in the front room and other than that they don't ask. One time they came the children were watching ghostbusters DVD on the pc. We could have had a tv in every bedroom and they'd never know... we haven't.. but we could have.
I wouldn't worry I think their scaremongering tactics work quite well though.
We got a letter when we moved in sayign we didn't have a tv licence, so I rang them and said we don't have a tv and if you check your records you will see we never have had. They said they might send someone round and 3 years later this has still not happened.
If you have sky though there is a good probability they might find out lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Greenbee was lovely and offered today, greenbee your:A . It's some amount off but honestly if you seen the kitchen thats there now.
I was also thinking about the reclaiming back charges, i wrote to them last year and they said it was on hold, never heard anything back but was thinking i might try again. Is it true that if your were in receipt of benefits then you shouldn't be over charged? Alot of my charges were when me and DD were on our own and i wasn't working. I worked out at the time it was £2000 odd that the bank took, it would be some help if i got it back with getting the house sorted. Any advice would be great as i don't bank with that bank any more.
Dinner over and sister and BIL up so best get the kitchen cleared.Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -
