As is tradition whenever I try to make mincepies, I always have loads of mincemeat left over, so have been trawling the internet to see what I can make from it other than the obvious mincepies. I'm now off to make some mincemeat flapjacks. I'm substituting dried apricots for the dried cranberries as have some of those that need using. This should work shouldn't it?

toots, I don't know whether you realise it, but you are my inspiration for being positive this year. Despite everything that you've been through, you've kept us entertained with your funny emails and posts, looked after us when we're feeling ill or down, and rarely moaned even when you're not feeling great yourself. Thank you.

Greenbee !!!!! Thats not a list its a roll of wallpaper!!!!
just to repeat what you usually say to me - does it all really NEED to be done???? this is meant to be holiday time not work until youu drop!!!
    toots xx

It's not.. it's a way of putting my list together so I feel like I've achieved something! It may be a holiday today, but I'm not going anything with it, and what to get everything under control and manageable so that from next week, when I'm really busy, I don't have to worry about the house.

To be fair, the living room, hall and loo are all fine nowadays, and the kitchen isn't bad, although can develop hotspot tendencies if I don't keep an eye on things. The bedroom is also easily fixable, and the bathroom is OK (but pretty grotty... its on the list for gutting :D ). However, the study and the spare room, which should be OK, have suffered from the recent work on the utility room, and as I need to use both of them, I need to get it done.

    So far I have:

Tested both smoke alarms; cleaned the hall, kitchen & living room radiators, dusted the sitting room including the pictures, lampshades, lightbulbs and wiped the lightswitch, and taken all the stuff out of the hall that shouldn't be there!

You see... I'm winning. After the next session I'll post my list and you'll see how much shorter it's got just by making sure it's so detailed!

LOl, I have several sock mountains too, it's OH's biggest complaint about my housekeeping skills, that he can never find his socks. He tries to insist I count them into and out of the machine, my reply to that is that if he wants to be fussy he can wash his own damn socks!
    Ragz

I had this as well eventually I just bought all his socks the same. Yep he has a draw full of grey socks so they all match each other. Any other socks he buys he’s responsible for.
The work will wait for you to finish showing the LOs the rainbow, but the rainbow would not wait for you to finish the work.
  • 5 best things (in no particular order)

    1. DD3 going to junior school who recognise that she is bright, and don't see her as just disabled, but see her as a whole person, and are teaching her as such.
    2. DD3 being diagnosed with ADHD, technically this happened in 2007, but it's taken a while to get her sorted with the right meds. She's much happier now, and I don't feel like I'm an appalling mother when she's bouncing off the walls.
    3. Realising that I have some amazing friends who will be there for me, just as I am for them. I am loved and well liked, and the people who have 'issues with me', can't cope with strength and confidence. And being able to shrug that off. Who needs that level of judgement? :p
    4. Being able to run across the playground with the kids, and not worrying about wetting myself because I had bloomin major surgery to fix my detached pelvic floor and vaginal wall prolapses.
    5. Coming off antidepressants because they weren't helping. My life is challenging, and most of the time I feel like I'm being bludgeoned, but ADs aren't able to help with that. Walking the dog round the park definitely does!

    Remember most from this thread...

There isn't one single thing from the thread, it's more an amalgamation of things.... it's how incredibley supportive we all are to each other. No-one is unkind or mean, unlike some of the other areas on this site. The Toots' Good Points list was a beautiful example of this. The overwhleming support and positive vibes, prayers and good wishes when I asked for them for my friend's little boy. ( Who is at home now, and doing well, it's going to be a long road ahead, but I genuinely believe that all of those thoughts made a difference to his illness. Thank you again. :A ) Pink who took the time to ask for his name to put on the Salvation Army prayer list. Toots who emails pictures of very sexy men that make me wish I was 20 years younger. But who also lets me know she's concerned about me if I'm not around. Pigpen who runs it all in spite of the ludicrous amount of stress/ stuff in her own life. And yes, piggers, you're right, if you turned up on my doorstep you'd be welcomed in too.

But mostly it's women doing what women do, listening, helping, suggesting, advising, supporting, laughing, encouraging, celebrating, and sometimes crying.

Thanks to you all, I love being part of this community.

    Remarkable thing that changed me.

The snowball calculator. It's shown me that we can pull our own way out of debt, and not be reliant on borrowing more to clear it.... The Budget isn't always going to be easy, but I know we'll get there in the end.

I think that'll do. *sniff* need a tissue now.
