  • I have the frizziest, thickest hair and can say that the babyliss ones are amazing! My sister has GHDs and I can't tell the difference and find the babyliss ones nicer to use! Good choice!! Mind you also helps that they are so much cheaper!!!

Going to order some GHD's! Whats the difference in salon quality and mk 1V?

Why are they different prices on the same sites?
  • I can recommend www.hqhair.com I have purchased several pairs (got 3 daughters and a daughter-in-law) and they are always a reliable company to use. incidentally, they often have excellent cosmetic and jewellery offers on too. Please be careful with those sites offering GHD's for £63. I researched some in December and believe that they are not legitimate. Also there are very good fakes out there that look like GHD'S but are very dangerous
  • I've got these http://diosahair.com/ in hot pink and they are really good (as good as ghds IMO) I got them half price too, I can't see any offers on them at the moment though.:embarasse

Bit confusing here- some sites describe the wider plate version as 'salon quality' others as 'wide plate'. But the standard GHDs now, MK IV come in three widths of plate- wide (good for very thick/curly hair), regular (often with the biggest discounts as the most popular) and thin (for shorter hair and particularly good at curls). At least that's what I take it to mean! Hope that helps. :A
  • Dammit. Boots is out of stock atm :( Think I'd rather get them there than amazon or HQ Hair as I would rather have the Advantage points to use towards Christmas pressies or Benefit products :D Hope they come back into stock quickly.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Im glad I saw this thread Its reminded me Id forgotton GHD have my GHD's and I need to get them back. Mine are out of warrenty and they say they cant fix them but I can have a new pair for £90.

    Not much of a reduction?

Since mine broke at beginning of December I got the Babyliss 230's for £22 at John Lewis and have got on fine with them - they are a bit more chunky to hold but work well on my hair equal if not better to ghds I have to say.

I did wonder about getting my ghds back and getting them fixed as friends have used a service off ebay for this but dont know if this is a good idea?

Trouble is GHD are saying they want a £10 admin fee plus postage to return them to me - now they never told me about this when I sent them or rang them - and I had to ring them nearly a month after I sent them as I had not had a letter off them to say about my straightners. I think £10 admin fee is not right as they had not notified me of this when I rang customer services to ask where to send them to - was just told Id need to pay postage both ways (£2.50 to send them)

Whats everyone think of this? Thanks Alison

Personally I would too query the admin fee- if they are in warrenty and break then it shopuld not incur any fees- ok so I am no warrenty expert but thats my understanding of how it works anyway.

I wasn't sure what you meant by the last part when you called customer services- did they arrange to let you do this without the cost or did they misquote you before you got the £10 admin fee thing? I would call them back and try to see if they can stick to that original quote.

Bad news- I was going to do the same, so asked my local boots if they could order some in for me and they said they weren't selling GHDs any more. I called customer services who confirmed Boots have discontinued selling them, so there wont be any more stock going on sale on the website or in stores. Cheapest place now I've found is Feel Unique- £94.95 delivered, with 7.5% Quidco cashback... not as good as Boots advantage points but better than nothing!
