Oh, have confused myself now! Took a look on the website and found infact its 24 months on the newer styles- I am imagining that once you get them, you send off the guarentee and its set for 24 months from the reciept date. I don't think Boots sell anything other then the GHD IV style:

How long is my styler guaranteed for?
As the manufacturer we offer a 12-month guarantee with the 3 and 3.1b stylers and a 24 month guarantee with the ghd IV styler collection. Within this period we will repair or replace the product for you at our discretion. If your styler has become faulty due to incorrect use (please see product care for correct usage details) or accidental damage, we may still be able to repair it for you; however, this may be subject to a charge. If you choose not to proceed with a repair, and you request the styler to be returned to you, it may be subject to a small postage and handling charge
  • Graaa mine have just died completely! and ive had them two and a half years so they are definitely no longer under warranty. my sister says her friend can get some from a hairdresser aunt for 30quid, theyre not ghd but they're ,ade by the same people, i tested hers the other day and they were really good, so i will hold for that. luckily i have fairly straight hair already, but i will be without my usual sleekness (ha) for the next few days!
Wins 2012: £50 Love2Shop voucher, Lets Dance tickets, Juan Zelades CD, bluetooth speaker, Blackberry 9360 with £30 credit a month, Chocolate, Maybelline Goodie Bag, Hunter wellies!

  • I have my hair done at the hairdressers with GHD's but bought some FHI's a couple of years ago (they are exactly the same as GHD's, made in the same factory but just a different badge, oh and half the price) and they are just the same, the finish is the same, they heat up within seconds and the casing stays cool, I would highly recommend them, I would never buy GHD's when these go, I will just get another set of FHI's, but I agree all the rest are rubbish

They are great and do a really good job.

Their customer service is really good too. I had a problem with mine and they got replaced with brand new ones for free (I think due to the problems they had with the power lead in the first few batches) and then a further set got savaged by my rabbits (sharp teeth and cable dont mix!) and they replaced them for £43, which I thought was good considering how much it would have been for some new ones! So if you ever have a problem with them do not hesitate in contacting the parent company. Good service.

    I cant survive without them!!!!

I totally agree. Mine broke after 2.5 years and they repaired them for free. It did take 3 weeks and I had 3 weeks worth of bad hair days but I think the service they offer is excellent.

QVC sell them now but I don't know how the prices compare.

I've got quite thick hair so I bought the wide GHD's about 6 years ago and mine are still going strong :D I don't use mine everyday though.

Nothing could really keep my hair straight until I used GHD's. They really are fantastic.

HOWEVER.... With my Amazon vouchers this Christmas i bought myself a pair of these Babyliss straighteners:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-2085U-Pro-230%C2%B0C-Straighteners/dp/B000BFN80I/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I can honestly say (i have no reason to be biased) that these are 100% just as good as GHD's. The only downside with the Babyliss ones is the handle can get hot if you have them on too long.

Seriously, i can't recommend them enough and they're reduced from £60 to £22.19, and Tesco and some others have already matched that price.

I have to agree - Ive tried most ranges (including GHD's and Hair tools)

Of course its a matter of choice and some are devoted to GHD's but my babyliss go to 230 degrees quickly, have a digital display for easy control and the most important part - they have a very quick heat recovery rate. After loads if research I finally realised that this was the most important thing to look for in straighteners.

So for those who cant (or wont) pay out for GHD's I seriously would recommend the babyliss 230's

Do you not find these really really chunky? I used to use Babyliss (now use whal as they are slimmer) and my friend has the 230 type, I tried using hers but they are so chunky- and heavy its not as easy to get a good result. They do heat upfast etc though and look pretty, but just too chunky for me! anyone else find this?
