Government giving out £70 xmas bonuses for the unemployed.. ????

I think Fat Gordon has gone mad.. the UK benefits system is totally corrupt, trying to 'supposedly' get people back into work, moreso those that feel they shouldn't have to work.. then New Labour willingly hands out a free non returnable £10 xmas bonus alongside a £60 new year bonus.. which doesn't affect benefits & doesn't have to be paid back either..

1.86 million unemployed as of December 2008..

1086000 x £70.00 = £76 million plus of more wasted taxpayers money..

I alongside many others have seen no xmas bonuses this year & i've worked damn hard right the way through.. disgusted in labour government

As far as i know the extra £60 payment is for carers, pensioners and people with disability. This is to help cover the cost of winter fuel. I certainly do not begrudge a penny of it. These people are the most vulnerable in our society and we should look after them.

These are the people who are eligable for the bonus

    Who is eligible?

To get a Christmas Bonus you must be a resident in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, any EEA country, or Switzerland and be entitled (unless you are deferring your State Pension) to at least one of the following benefits in the first full week in December:
    • Attendance Allowance
    • Constant Attendance Allowance
    • Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance
    • Disability Living Allowance
    • Incapacity Benefit at the long-term rate
    • Industrial Death Benefit
    • Carer's Allowance
    • Mobility Supplement
    • Pension Credit - the guarantee element
    • State Pension (including Graduated Pension)
    • Severe Disablement Allowance
    • Unemployability Supplement or Allowance
    • War Disablement Pension if aged 65 or over
    • War Widow's Pension
    • Widow's Pension
    • Widowed Mother's Allowance
    • Widowed Parent's Allowance
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • Yep, thanks for that.
I don't have paid employment as I am main carer for my three disabled children.
I haven't "worked damn hard" - oh no not me.
Fancy swapping? You can have my £50 a week for being on call 24/7 and I'll do your job.

What the hell are you rambling on about? This is not for those on JSA or dossers, this is for all those less fortunate not to be working either sick, disabled or are Careres etc.

    Get over it.
  • i take issue with calling gordon fat i think hes lovely
    onwards and upwards
  • There is also alot of sick & disabled people that have to care for themselves because they don't seem to meet the rather select criteria that labour has for being disabled.. who cannot get this payment, who get zero support from the government either!

I will be getting this winter bonus and I have to admit I'm grateful for it, I currently live on IB and DLA which gives me the grand sum of £486 a month to live on. After haveing worked full time all my life, all be it on min. wage, it is still a big drop in money and the cost of prescriptions and essentials means the money does not stretch that far, I'm trying to put the heating on as little as possible now even though I know if I get too cold I get worst.
I allready know what I'm going to splash my £70 on, a new fridge because mine finally gave up working over christmas.

So I'm sorry you did not get a bonus at work, have to admit last couple of years our firm also stopped staff bonuses, which didn't go down well so I do know how you feel about that. But I won't appologize for accepting this money off the goverment, at least you have your health and can work at the moment and I've a feeling your surviving on at least a little bit more then I am.

You do appear to be rambling on about cr*p really, don't you? So far all you have done is given incorrect information, and failed to back up any of your statements.

    Too much booze tonight? :p
    Gone ... or have I?
