I have a reasonable stock of food here which if I needed to I could probably make last the best part of a month, largely because I keep stocks of staples such as dried pasta and rice. It's the line beyond that though, where seemingly rational people start planning for emergencies and the next step is that they've got a year's supply of food, or some form of shelter to escape to. I think that this attitude is more prevalent in places like the US though, particularly as there is more room to build a little escape space deep in the woods.
I like to bulk buy loo roll. Nothing is worse than going ouit for emergency loo roll, it doesn't go off. There is no reason if you have space nopt to buy it. If i could get a lifetimes supply on special offer i probably would. As it is most i have bought in one go is about two hundred. It went annoying quickly, we were in london then and very social and had lots of people to stay...and presumably poop.0 -

I understand this completely. In our recently built pantry we have a good back up supply of loo rolls. When we were snowed in last year (v unexpected for Hampshire) we traded a home baked loaf for loo rolls....not going to be caught out by that again.
We have a well (but no idea of the water quality, I suspect it includes the run of from the cess pits of the cottages up the hill from us), a gun, plenty of logs, chickens, a sensibly stocked pantry, quite a lot of wine. I am also a bit on the plump side so beng rationed might be good for me.0 -
My current haul, in its entirety, is: 2 packs of noodles, 1 pack of instant custard, small bag of plain flour, 8oz butter I was given, tin of creamed rice, tin of pineapple chunks, 2 tins of baked beans, last few frozen chips in a bag, remnants of frozen peas in a bag, 1/5th of a 250g tub of margarine, 6 potatoes that have been sprouting for a month and half a jar of salad cream...... and 8 loo rolls.0

Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

There's plenty of mussels on the rocks at low tide - as well as seaweed to be found.... and up the road, lots of fields of things growing...... and grabbable. I'm sure I could wallop a few seagulls if push came to shove.0 -
Seagull bashing! Now that's in the spirit of the thread!

NB: until the point that lawlessness ensues, capturing and killing seagulls is illegal. Just thought I should stress that in case I get anyone in trouble. Window licking, on the other hand is not, so people should feel free to do it, just so the rest of us can have a good laugh. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
