All this talk of people going to other countries, I don't want to learn a foreign language sufficient to deal with every aspect of living/working in a foreign country ... on the other hand, no English speaking countries will have me
I'm stuck here, even if I wanted to leave.0 -
Means I had to resort to the Co-op...who only had a half price fresh duck...nothing else at all...and I feel bad cos I am sure it's a battery duck too.
I've never heard of battery duck, to me they're always swimming in the local pond or flying to Canada. Must be a vegetarian thing. In fact, if I'd read that sentence by itself, to me it would belong in an exchange like this:
(me in a hardware store in Derbyshire).... What's this Double A thingy?
(store worker).. It's a battery, duckPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Making my way through Manchester centre this morning I managed to slip on some compacted snow.
Quick as a flash, I converted it into a triple salko, followed by a heel turn.
3 tramps watched me and of course voted.
4.3 average? I can't believe it....I'm still kicking myself (which isn't easy in wellies)0 -
I started stockpiling non-perishable essentials back in autumn as I knew the long-term temp job I had at the time would be ending at Christmas. Just things I regularly buy but bought when they were on special offer like muesli, dried pasta, pasta sauces, tea-bags and juice. I got laid off unexpectedly in mid-October and have only bought veggies, milk and eggs in the last three months, so I think my plan is working. It certainly feels like the JSA is stretching a bit. Now, my main concern is how I'm going to stash enough money away for the utility bills, both of which arrive within a week of each other in mid-February which is why I've not got any heating on right now.0

We did a BIG shop on Monday at Tesco but not due to the weather conditions, we'd just run out of food after Christmas. So glad we went then and didn't leave it until later in the week as we normally do. Husband ventured out today for paper and he just bought a couple of pints of milk.0
