Rabbit is a rubbish meat in survival situations apparently as it takes more calories to digest than it provides.
It is tasty though and they breed like, erm, rabbits. (sorry)0 -

When I was young my uncle would go rabbiting. And we'd sometimes end up having a rabbit hanging about. I love rabbit pie. Then along came myxomatosis.0 -

Lots of game is the same as wild animals carry very little fat.
Rabbit stew for me with fat lumps of bacon.0 -

No, it does not take more calories to eat than it contains but it will drain your body of nutrients in order to digest and utilise it - so make sure you include your veggies. The early trappers used to effectively go on the Atkins diet because rabbits were so easy to catch and hence starved to death while their bellies were full. So eat your greens.0 -
I am currently taking the upstairs doors off and building a bomb shelter in my living room to shelter in until the apocalypse passes.
Honestly! I've spent time in rural Malawi where people have no money, no utilities, no services, and nothing to buy if there was any money anyway, and I survived and so did the exploding population (though less so the local forests).0 -
