Seasonal Greetings Everyone!
It's that time of the year when i need to get away for some sun, quick-smart (doctors orders). Although it's not the ideal time with the £ being practically dead.....it's necessary.
So was wondering if anyone know where the best places to hunt for a 7-10-14 day holiday (probably to The Canary Islands, as that's/they're the cheapest guaranteed sun place/s i can think off, though would consider others if the price was okay).
I can leave any time from now, but must be in the U.K. by 23rd Jan. Also, it's for a solo traveller. Can it still be cheaper to hunt for flights only and book accommodation separately? I'm so out of touch these days, as i haven't been flight/holiday hunting for ages.........tooooooooo long!
Any input appreciated.........i need to get on that plane.

Head for the USA, I fly out to Florida in a few days and its mid 20's which is reasonable. Head down to the Keys and its a bit warmer.
Despite the fall of the £ against the $ it is still good value and far better than the Euro.0 -
What about Egypt?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

The thought of Florida sounds great. But isn't it expensive?Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -

It depends, if you stay outside of Orlando it is usually cheaper, if you dont have the cost of all the tickets thats money saved, petrol is still cheap (much cheaper than here) You have many places to go, Miami, Gulf Coast (look up Clearwater) Keys (Largo is cheapest)
You can often pick up a decent priced flight, look at connecting in Atlanta, or flying to Atlanta and driving down to Florida. For instance its just over 600mi from Atlanta to Miami which is southern Florida. Easily done in 2 days or longer via Clearwater, Tampa etc...
The initial outlay may be slightly more than say Tenerife, but if you consider all the costs im not sure youd be that much worse (poss) better off.0 -

Not many late deals to Egypt, Especially for 1 person.
Like Sturll said, The USA is the best bet.
Or Benidorm, But it will only be around 10/12 Deg there.
Tenerife is JAM PACKED.

Does anyone think i can get a better deal than £154 return flight Manchester-Tenerife (4-18th January)???
It seems as a solo traveller i have to more or less pay for 2 people on a package, so thought it may be cheaper booking separately.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -

Book your flight and hotel separately as a solo traveller.
Try using www.hotelscomparison.com to FIND the best deal, but don't book via their links as they will steal your commission - click through Quidco and get the commission yourself.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
just back from tenerife (los cristianos) and I wouldn't guarantee sunshine! been there two weeks and had full days of cloud, torrential rain, wind and very chilly at night. Yes we did have about three cloudless days out of 14 and some sunny/cloudy days but apparently the weather is the worst they have had for about 6 years - typical! I also found it very expensive both restaurants and supermarkets and that is taking into consideration the poor euro, far more expensive than Portugal. Okay if you are drinking before 6pm at a euro a pint!
It was very quiet, Siam Park no queues for the slides !
Would I go back - unlikely....0
