Actually, i was checking the weather in Tenerife on a website late last night, and in some areas it looked like days of showers :(.
So i don't know whether to chance it or not.......i don't want 2 weeks of mostly rain.

But i can't really think of any other sunny places, without the flights being really really expensive (e.g. - around £1200 to fly to Santiago, Chile).

Florida just vanished into non existence then?
  • I would agree Florida, or if you want to head a few hours further than that, Thailand has some good offers at the moment, and you wont be left wanting for the sunshine at all. The food is very cheap even with a reduced rate on the baht and the people are really lovely, despite what the news would sometimes lead you to believe.

Um, i kind of forgot about that one, but i don't want to go on a 'road trip' kind of holiday (not yet anyway). I'd just always considered that Florida is a really expensive place for 'the elite'. Any idea where i can find a good deal? I searched Hays Travel and couldn't find anything for January.

Ps - I should have said that ideally i need to leave from any North-West airport.

    For example;
8th to 22nd Jan Manchester to Orlando, Florida is coming up at £214 for flight with First Choice
  • www.travelzoo.com. Type in Florida, cuba, thailand etc and see what actual holidays it comes up with.

Failing that as a single traveller myself many times previously, i just put in dates and place on www.kayak.co.uk, i then would check expedia, opodo and some airlines direct then i booked the flight with whoever was best price/connections. Then i would use hotels sites relevant to the place i would be visiting and book maybe the first nights hotel as a minimum.

The world really is your oyster, it all depends on your budget and just how far you do actually want to travel.

Actually I wouldn't mind going to Orlando/Florida, as I've never been to N.America before, so it would be nice to be able to cross another continent off my travel list (if i had one ;)).

I know this is a long shot, but is there a holiday site where you can actually type in number of persons as 1, without it just giving you a long list of pointless holiday prices that say 'based on 3 sharing' etc. etc. as it's realy irritation and time consuming, grrrrrrr:mad:

I should add that i could skip my "appointment" on the weekend of 23rd Jan for the right hol, but would defo need to return to the UK before 28th Jan.

  • just back from tenerife (los cristianos) and I wouldn't guarantee sunshine! been there two weeks and had full days of cloud, torrential rain, wind and very chilly at night. Yes we did have about three cloudless days out of 14 and some sunny/cloudy days but apparently the weather is the worst they have had for about 6 years - typical! I also found it very expensive both restaurants and supermarkets and that is taking into consideration the poor euro, far more expensive than Portugal. Okay if you are drinking before 6pm at a euro a pint!

It was very quiet, Siam Park no queues for the slides !

Would I go back - unlikely....

Sounds like EGYPT is for you then - December time Temp is - 28 - 32 Deg.

I wouldn't mind TFS if it was quiet, Like you say.
