Not a lot!
If you want a cheapie, have a look at www.cheapholidaybargains.co.uk Not used them but they seem to have numerous late deals to Canaries from Man 10days for under £300 half board. Doesn't say anything about minimum occupancy. I've never found this a big prob in Canaries in winter when I've travelled alone TBH , as there's loads of spare capacity in hotels then. Half board will save you a bomb on eating and drinking, esp with the exchange rate as it stands.
So you reckon £411 is a bit too expensive?
Gracias for the link, though it doesn't seem to be able to 'handle my request' right now. I'll try again tomorrow, or should i say, later.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
Not so much that it's too expensive, but if it's just a case of grabbing a deal on price, (rather than a hotel and resort that you REALLY want to stay in) , I reckon you could do better.
I've been looking myself for a blast of winter sunshine. Have been slightly put off by the reports of worst weather in 6 years (although the weather can change by the min ute). Was therefore considering shorter break (maybe 5 nights ) in better hotel, so have got more comfort and facilities if weather's not so good. Will def consider half board, the cost is not too much extra in many instances. I don't really rate the food in general in the Canaries and anyway wouldn't be wanting to spend a lot extra on this particular holiday,.
That's my thinking anyway!
I agree with you , in that other destinations are interesting options, but the Canaries are the easy option and don't need too much thinking about!0 -

I was also wondering what i would do if it rained most days. There's not much point in paying for a hol to sit around reading a book i could read at home or something like that. I did consider seeing if i could book some Spanish lessons or something in one of those academy places, so then at least i'd have something to do if it did rain. But again i don't know where to start with things like that, can you jst turn up on spec or do you have to book in advance?
Then i looked at flights to Goa and saw they were cheaper than i expected. But i have no idea if i should (and how easy it is to) just get a flight there and then try and book somewhere to stay when i arrive.
The clock is ticking.........Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
Has anyone been to Mexico? I see you can get a return flight to Cancun for a touch under £300.
Though of course there seems to be some compulsory departure tax (con) of $50 to pay when you leave.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -

The Goa offer sounds tempting but can one get an Indian visa at short notice? I think I read sonewhere that there was a delay with them.0

Yes i'd Go(a) to Goa for sure (in fact i just got a book on Goa out of the library today) and would have clicked that link and booked in a flash. BUT (as you mentioned), something i have overlooked on all these holiday destinations, is the 'visa situation'. That could ultimately decide my fate.........
So yeah, it seems like the holiday destination will be one of the following;
Florida, Tenerife (or other canary island), Mexico, Costa Rica, Goa, Morocco, Egypt.Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0
