far from expressing opinion, a statement was made that they are "broad daylight robbers". I do not believe that you can call some one such a thing unless they have been before a judge and have a criminal record for robbery. Please correct me if I am wrong, but did not read like opinion to me . . . . . so I do not feel I am throwing stones in glass houses. I do not appreciate your racial comment either.0

In my last post I conceded that, in view of their non-history and failure to respond, the poster whose comments you criticised might be invented and not a real customer at all. Nevertheless, you shouldn't have sought to curb their freedom of expression (and, by association, everyone else's) by suggesting they could be 'kicked off the forum.' That's all there is to it. I'm sorry you don't get it.:wall:
As to your last comment, which is a serious accusation, I look forward to you providing a link to a reputable reference source which states that 'the pot calling the kettle black' is a racial comment. If you cannot do so, then you'll surely understand why I'm more baffled than offended!0 -

I agree we can end this thread here, as it is serving no useful purpose.
However, if anyone has the time, the thread below will show the lengths to which some will go in an attempt to stifle free expression on these boards. It also shows how far 'the management' will allow a spirited defence when that freedom is attacked.

yes - lets end it here.
that other thread is crazy. I think the XL chappie made the mistake of starting to reply to people.... it is clear to me that most of the types on here can not be engaged with sensibly on such a forum. Spanner man0 -
i ordered 2 x bay trees november 2009
they arrived as stated but extremly poor quality
i tried to return them the next day through there carrier u.p.s. In order to obtain a refund, they said that they could not return them as they were plants !!!!!!
i have since rang on numerous occassions and sent emails.no one answers the phone and the emails are just returned by an automated service.
then i looked for more information about the company and found this web site.
i will refer this matter as others have done
warning please do not use0 -
I've had problems with this company as well. So much so, I've created a couple of one page websites called
gardening-express.info and gardeningexpress.info
If you dont get any satisfaction - get even !0 -
I should have found this discussion before I bought from them. The plants arrived quickly but were very poor quality , possibly mis labled and hugely expensive in comparison to the quality of plants obtained from a garden centre. Never again!!0

Well, a bit of hope to others awaiting refunds. Please see the website Smarta and all the Gardening Express complaints. You will see actual replies from the managing director Chris Bonnett. I placed an order back in May but it had clearly got overlooked and I cancelled. Had several exchanges via the only way of communicating - raising a support ticket and was told refund was being processed etc etc. Finally yesterday I emailed order@gardeningexpress.co.uk and marked it for the attention of Chris Bonnett, chasing my promised refund. That refund was credited this morning to my credit card.
But, please just go and visit garden nurseries and centres - a lot safer and probably cheaper in the long run!0 -
Hi,
Myself and a number of friends placed orders with Gardening Express in December as I bought them all £25 vouchers for GE via Groupon (which cost me £7 each...bargain!). Of the 6 orders placed 3 were fine, 2 were sent the wrong items (which GE allowed them to keep for free, and replacement items were sent out, when they complained), and 1 included plants that were in a shocking state (potbound with brown mushy smelly roots that were obviously rotten). Unfortunately that last order was mine, but I didn't complain as I couldn't be bothered to wrestle with their stupid "ticket" complaint system.
I placed another order in January (they'd included a 20% off voucher in my December order so I couldn't resist), which included a number of the "rotten" plants I had ordered in December. Unfortunately they were rotten again and only half of them were fit for anything other than the compost heap. This time I have complained, so we'll see whether they take any notice.
Moral of the story - when you order plants from Gardening Express be prepared to be disappointed and if the correct order arrives and it contains good quality plants you will be really happy!0
