Gardening Express

Just a word of warning about this company. I was searching online and found their website in 2006. I was doing my garden and needed a large number of plants, and was looking for good speciments at reasonable prices. Looking through their website I was so excited to find some lovely plants for small prices. The delivery also showed as free for orders above £50 (at the time 2006 it has now changed to £100). I placed my order and waited for weeks for it to arrive. It never did! I have written several complaints and the only time I heard back was when I said that I wanted to order more plants but wandered when the first lot will be sent.
I then searched online and found several bad reviews about them. There has been several complaints and they have been reported to wachdog and Trading Standards. Unfortunately thay are still trading and there are several new victims. I have wished to have knew what I know now about them before I ordered those plants, but now just hope that this message will stop some people from repeating my mistake.

  • Unsure why you are leaving reviews that are 3 years old, I have been using Gardening Express for the last two years on a number of orders which have always arrived very quickly and in excellant condition, I would recomend this company to everyone.

Oh look, another first-time poster delurking specifically to defend a company he definitely has no connection to  Googling ourselves, were we?

Although Leila1, I am a bit at a loss why you have allowed your problem to drag on so long, or why you suddenly felt the need to warn people years after the event. If they owe you money, take them to small claims court or contact your card issuer to report merchant fraud.

And anybody considering buying from any online store they haven't used before, have more of a nose about than taking the word of one anonymous poster on an internet forum!!!
  • Hi, silver - i'm a girl actually! and only just joined this site, so not many posts yet, i just stumbled across this post because I was looking for offers for the garden, and thought it was a bit unfair, that's all. I dont plan on posting much, more here to read and find bargains, but i have since seen in another forum post that they have a sale on wisterias, and someone had one the day after ordering, so yes - people can make up their own minds. It's disspointing that you are so cynical about my message, and like you want people to screw up!!!
  • this is the other post i was on about above if you're interested.

Okay, I apologise. :D I'm afraid this site does suffer a lot from that kind of thing, and yours fitted into a pattern of it. Sorry.
  • I have been a victim of Gardening Express. I placed an order in July 2008 and after numerous promises that the goods are now in stock / been dispatched I have not received anything. I was also promised a refund at the beginning of January which has also failed to materialize. An awful company and i would advise everyone to steer clear of them. I am now starting legal proceedings.

I've just been done over by these clowns too. We ordered some stuff over a week ago, I phoned up on Wednesday to see where it was, they said they'd phone me back but never did; when I phoned back they said it would be dispatched that afternoon. I phoned them again on Thursday when it had failed to arrive, they told me they'd phone me back and never did. When I eventually phoned them again they they said they would be dispatched late that afternoon. Still nothing, so I then phoned them this morning (Friday) and they said that they would phone me back after speaking to the couriers within 30 mins. After 3 hours I had heard nothing so I phoned the couriers myself, they said they had nothing on the system for us, the order reference didn't match anything and there wasn't anything mentioning our address on their system. I then phoned the garden people again, the guy hung up on me. I phoned them again and they said they needed to check with the couriers. They didn't phone me back so I phoned them again, this time they said the goods had been dispatched on Wednesday. I asked them for a refund and they said they won't do it because they "don't have the goods any more". The couriers have no record of the goods or anything, but the garden people won't give me a refund!

Stay well clear of these clowns.
  • Thanks All

I was just about to order from them today, as they have some special offers advertised at the moment, but remembered something about them from last year!

    A lucky escape!!

I am not allowing it to drag on. I have personally recoverd years ago. I was buying some plants and have come across their website. Wasn't sure as to why they are still allowed to trade with the number of complaints against them and the number of people that have complained to watchdog.

If anyone had been a happy customer well count yourself lucky. If you have a quick look around the internet there are a number of complaint out there.

I have posted this here because I don't want to see anymore people robbed in day light.
  • This company is absolute rubbish and broad daylight robbers. I have now reported them to Trading Standards & Watchdog. They have not replied to my phone calls or recorded delivery letters. They totally ignore you. I will be looking to take them to court. They have taken £352 from me and I have only received half of the plants which were ordered. The plants that did arrive aren't much cop either!!
