Did any of you watch Kirsties homemade Christmas on Channel 4 tonight? Loved the hamper and the chutney. Also loved the dangly beads on the parcels - nice to keep for the following years tree I thought. She's making candles tomorrow.

I do like Kirsty but some of the stuff is pretty random. And when they show you something that will take 6 weeks 3 weeks before Christmas (soap!) it seems a bit daft. Chutney is a great gift but not an economical one, more expensive than buying it unless you have grown the fruit and veg I think. I did like the bear but that was a true labour of love!

I agree. I loved the soap but it's more relevant for next year than for this! The ribbon roses were gorgeous and I must try these although to my traditionalist mind these are not particularly Christmassy, but would be lovely, as they said, for a corsage etc or for decorating a birthday present. I'm sure you can get wired ribbon more cheaply than the price she mentioned!

I think you can get a lot of the stuff she mentioned cheaper - even the hamper basket I would have haggled at £8 :D;) At the craft shows you get really good deals on ribbon. I've managed to wrap nearly all my presents this year with the 3 £1 each bundles of ribbon I got at the Alexandra Palace show in September.

eta: Talking about the corsage roses. I saw a gorgeous purple velvet one in Dorothy Perkins the other day and was seriously contemplating hinting to OH for it for Christmas. It was either a fiver or £8 I can't remember! Now I've seen how to do it I'm going to have a go at making one myself :D I bet I can find some purple velvet for cheaper than that ;) Good pressies in their own right too!

Hi all, Can I ask if anyone is making their own sweets and if so when do you make them - don't want them to go funny before handing them out just before Christmas? I made truffles years ago but it was for Christmas Day buffet - this time I want to be organised with different types and wrap them in boxes etc. Does this make sense :o

I loved Kirsties homemade Christmas last night - got sooo excited. Just wish I could wind the clock back about 6 months to make all the things I want. There's always next year
