npsmama please dont apologise for the questions - i love making things and if someone else likes them enough to make them too then im more than happy to help
The outside flaps on the hexagonal box are 2.5 high x 2.25 wide (inches) and the inside ones are 2 high x 2.25wide (inches). Each of the stable box inside which the sweets are in are 1.75x1.75 inches
Would you like me to do a tutorial on it - it may take me a little while to work out how to word it etc as its quite complicated unless you have it infront of you iykwim
I embellished each section seperately then stuck the middle sweet box to the inside layer then the inside layer to the outer layer - it would be just as easy to decorate it after you have put it together though depending if you were just cutting photos to size or popping on flowers etc
NEGirl- what are the measurements of the lid? Im going to give this a go at the weekend i think. I cant see instructions yet so ill wing it with above pointers:D Thank You0 -
KP - from each straight bit to the adjacent straight bit on the lid is 6inches (15cm). The lip down the edge is 1.5inchesWin £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012

I've just posted these altered glass coasters on my blog. This was for a swap but it got me thinking what lovely presents they would make with family photos or peoples favourite films as backgrounds. I bought the coasters ages ago in Poundland and am kicking myself now that I didn't buy more as these turned out really well. Poundland regret - I have it so often you'd think I would learn. If anyone spots someone else selling glass coasters can you give me a prod?
Also this was made using a Mosaic program, am now making a couple more for Christmas - a Beyonce and another like this. SO easy to make and fun too. Great for making up a mosaiced family portrait?:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -
Hi Whoopidoo,
I'm a newbie (so please forgive me for 'butting' in, but...) those coasters are stunning!!! ok, i admit i am an out and out '80's film fan and Labyrinth (along with the Lost Boys) is one of my top 5 films, but i have followed the link to your blog, read it twice, and still can't work out how you did it?! I would HONESTLY, be soooo happy if i received those as a gift, they are very special, and you should feel very proud of yourself for being such a clever and imaginative bunny!
righty-ho... back to my felt craft research... going to be dreaming about David Bowie all night now, sigh...

All your enthusiasm is catching you know. I was in poundland yesterday and they had packs of Christmas tumblers with snowmen and snowscenes on them. Until I found this thread-and a few others like it-I would have passed them by. I thought of you lot and thought ooh those have potential and bought two packs.
I think I will fill them with white sweets for snowman kisses/snowballs and wrap them in cellophene. It is all your fault that I now have a house full of boxes and bits that have potential.:rotfl:Some of it is starting to come in useful though, now I am starting to wrap things and make things.0
