Bought my chocolate coins for pots of gold from Tesco £1.20 BOGOF today, and also the Wispa gold - had to buy an extra one just to make sure they tasted okay... yummy!!!
Still haven't got the pots tho. Anyone got any ideas - is Ikea my best bet?

I love this thread!! Its reminded me that xmas is not that far away.
I was thinking of making felt birds & decorating them so they look xmassy, adding nice ribbon & then hanging them on twigs spray painted silver.
However I'm a bit rubbish at sewing and was wondering where I can get the outline & also where I can get nicely colored felt.
Im also going to give salt dough sculpture a go too0 -
Just found this link to the martha stewart website.
It shows you how to make cinnamon scented birds for the tree.
Think I'll give that a go over the weekend

Hey Silverchair, I'm making these little birdies as tree decorations myself this year
I tried them with lovely deep purples and red fabric samples from curtain and sofa websites but it frays too easily and is hard to sew with so I guess it'll have to be felt, I don't like the bright colours though, wanted them to be more rich and dark. Boyes have loads of lovely felt colours if you have one near you?D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
That looks lovely!
Unfortunately I dont have Boyes near, but I'll have a look on ebay.0 -

Could you use some of the thin iron on vilene, that would stop them fraying I think0 -
Pardon me for popping in. I've been lurking for months-I tend to over commit myself and then dissappoint myself when I cant keep up...but seeing the vinyl bowls made me think of something I wanted to share. In my days as a smoker my stepmum used to make me these "little balls" to kill my cigarettes and avoid smells. I was looking at polymer clay the other day for bead making and realised it would work very well. Basically what you do is roll a ball of clay and then flatten it a bit on one side so that it can stand up (kind of like a spherical candle shape) then using a knitting needle or pencil (something "just" as thick as a cigarette) you push a hole down the centre of it-dry, decorate glaze whatever.
the point of it is that when smoking, the strongest odour is produced when you crush it out-and thats the one that lingers the longest. So just popping you stub in the hole of your little ball extinguishes the cigarette without crushing it. then you just leave it there until you are ready to put your next one in. So if you glued one of these to the vinyl bowl you could possibly use it as an ash tray as the hot ash needn't come in contact with the vinyl...and you minimise the odour.0 -
Claire bear I love your little birdies they are lush, might have to give them a go although I'm sure they won't be anywhere near as lovely as yours0
