There was a load of old mousemats in our art department at college, the smooth rubbery underneath makes great stamps if that would be something you'd be interested in? Either for crafting things yourself, or you could make them and give them away as gifts? You could find some wooden shapes like stars or Christmas trees, glue them to the top side of the mousemat, and then cut around it with scissors or a craft knife, great for using with acrylic paintD'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0

Found more amazingly wonderful craft ideas to the point I had to reorganise my favourites list so I'm feeling slightly more ready to go...
Have just done some trial LP/ Vinyl bowls which I really quite like - very quirky. We have some really music loving friends and I was contemplating making these rather different bowls and then putting something in music related. I can't actually believe how easy they were to make:T
They are fab! Do you mind me asking how you did them? Not that I have any records mind you:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -
I've posted instructions a couple of pages back in this thread I think. They're easy, you just put a record over a oven proof bowl, put it in the oven until the plastic is bendy then shape it how you want. The temperatures and timings are in my original post
My local charity shop sells old records for 20p each so maybe worth looking around? I really want to make one but honestly can't think what I'd use it for or who I'd give it to as a present

Claire - thanks. adn't thought of stamps but I sort of went off that idea years ago when I failed miserably trying to do a border in the spare bedroom...........
I'm that thrilled with myself.............over on the Freebie board there's a link for a personalised calendar where you upload a photo and they e mail it to you. Just got it :T My son had sent me a photo of the three grandchildren so I used that............can't read the dates on te calendar very well though.............still, it'll do for first attempt:jI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Here it is again if you can't be bothered to look through loads of posts :rotfl:
Vinyl Record Bowl
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees.
2. Place the record on top of a large bowl turned upside down and carefully place in the oven.
3. Heat for about five minutes, or until record begins to soften and melt.
4. Wearing oven gloves, quickly remove from the oven. Flip the bowl the right way up and press the record into it so that it takes on the bowl shape. You'll find that the sides will curl in a fluted design, similar to the bowl in our picture.
5. While the record is hot and pliable, you can adjust the shape to your liking. If necessary, reheat for a short time to make adjustments.
Just looked on ebay, some people are selling them for like £25  Also advertising them as snack bowls for crisps and stuff, sure that's not very good from what people have said about the melted plastic fumes and stuffD'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
I looked on ebay and found thin lizzy record sarah... would the bowls work on a 7" record and how do you close the hole in the middle?I am determined to lose weight!:kisses3:
Weight loss so far 2 stones 6lbs!! :j:j0 -
Must ask OH is he's got any spare records..............:rotfl:He's a real hoarder when it comes to music.
Years ago me and my brother made loads of these and they got used for plant pots, putting keys in........anything really.
Can't think why you couldn't use a 7" one.
If you were using them for snacks just popping in a doile or tissue at the bottom would do I'd have thought.
No good.............really must have a go at this.............when I've done everything else:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
