Help me please all you brilliant crafty people :)

My OH collects spoons (the kind you get in gift shops with a resin covered pic or model on the top of the handle)
As luck would have it I found a spoon the other day (a naff PO ferry one) and had the idea of putting my own design on the end.
I managed to get the naff ferry thing off the end by soaking it in hot water & desolving the glue.
I'd like my pic to have the same hard clear resin on the top (to look proffessional) but have no idea what would work?

    Any ideas please :)

P.s. the space for the pic is about the size of a 5p coin.

You can buy clear resin casting kits (for preserving biological specimens in, or for making your own paperweights) such as this:

    http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/store/water-clear-casting-pack-p-634.html

£11.25 is quite expensive though. I wonder if a tube of ordinary epoxy resin from a DIY shop would work just as well?

£11.25 is expensive but I suppose I can make other gifts (like paperweights) too?

I think the main problem is going to be the size. Maybe I can just glue a picture to a clear glass bead and glue that on?

Another snowman - hope this link works (not good at techie stuff)

    http://www.allfreecrafts.com/christmas/coffee-creamer-snowman.shtml

Its basically making a snowman from a coffee mate jar or something similar.
I'm doing one (or will be) and filling it with marshmallows as snowballs.
My jar is already white and for the hat I'm making it out of felt.

Look in your local craft shop, if it sells docraft products theres a clear glue called Anitas Clear Gloss (or something like that) its about £2.75 a bottle. Just cover the surface you want to cover and it dries hard and completely transparent, I use it to cover glitter letters to stop it getting everywhere.

Hi would this work as a glaze for you?

Thanks for all your help, I've solved the problem now, I found some clear plastic pebbles that are the perfect size, so going to glue one on top. :D
