Can I join you all? I am working on knitting facecloths (with cotton) for all my bros and sis's, DH's bro and sis, and the various "significant others". So that's 12 in total. I hope to wrap them around a soap (hopefully a nice crafty one) for a nice thoughtful and cheap present. (And if I am really on top of things, everyone will get one cloth with their initial and another with a picture). I am working on those when on the bus and train for work commutes, as they are nice small projects for this. I have 7 finished (a mix of pictures and initials), with another 1 on the needles and 1 to sew in tail ends.

I am also hoping that for both sets of parents (DH and mine), my grandparents, and 3 sets of aunts and uncles, to make sets of about 5-10 Christmas tree decorations. Some knitted, and lots sewn and stuffed. But the only progress there is cutting out some shapes from a bag of remnants, no actual sewing done yet....

Just did 3 cheapo little joke pressies..........not exactly crafty though.
I used up 3 of my old pill bottles.......I'd got some joke labels off the internet last year and did 'Chill Pills' for teenage grandson and 'shopaholic' for teenage grandaughter.
This year teenage grandson is getting 'chickmagnet' and his Dad is getting 'Monday morning -Mond-aid'.........his girlfriend is having 'screw housework'
Fill them up with tic tacs of jelly beans and its a cheap and cheerful little extra.
Just have to find one for grandaughter now.:j

My sister did this for a relatives 60th. She's a hospital receptionist and managed to blag an empty bottle with a label for er... certain tablets that aid a gentlemen in the bedroom ;) Filled it with blue smarties and it had the childproof seal and everything on it. Went down very well :rotfl:

I did a few jars for gifts with jelly beans and others with smarties and addedm tags with "prescription" as to what each "pills" was for it went down a storm!

    MENOPAUSE RELIEF
Pour a couple of boxes of Smarties into a glass jar. Attach a label with the following:-
To temporarily calm your craving for chocolate, eat the BROWN one.
At the first sign of hot flushes eat the RED one.
Eat the ORANGE one to minimize depression.
The GREEN one calms your frustrations, when you want to be left alone.
If you feel a headache coming on eat the YELLOW one.
    The BLUE one reduces bloating.
Pink ones are for 'pink' days ... and purple ones are for 'goth' days !!!!
If all symptoms occur at the same time, eat the WHOLE jar.

    Old age pills
Use jelly beans in a large prescription bottle - or clear glass jar
    Label:-
    Gas-- yellow
    Constipation--green
    Forgetfulness--black
    Arthritis--purple
    Baldness--white
    Deafness--orange
    Wrinkles--pink
    Sex--red
The red pill may be cut into quarters if needed

I hope so because my sister and I both have different feelings towards her. After my parents divorced (it was my mothers fault she had an affair) my dad and her got together and they've been together ever since. My sister has never accepted her, or her two kids Jess (then 9) and James (then 7). There has always been an atmosphere between them and its never gotten any better. They ran off to gretna green and got married and they've been together 8 years in total now. My dad told me he had remarried after he'd done it but I was happy for him and her yet my sister was swearing and shouting etc at him. (im very much a daddys girl and my sister is mummys).

Either way my sister refuses to accept her or her kids - she never sends them birthday cards, Christmas cards, presents and only just acknowledges them if they are here visiting, whereas i send birthday, Christmas cards and presents to them all even my step mums mum (my step nan) and her hubby at Christmas. Plus I even have gotten her a step mum card for mothers day and recently sent her chocolates for her birthday.

My attitude is she makes my dad happy (and hes the happiest i think ive ever seen him) so im happy - plus i have a step brother and sister from the deal who are now 17 and 15!! now that makes me feel old considering i use to babysit them!

Am a few pages off the end but have just read your post sammy and almost identical to me (although my step mum didn't have any kids- but her parents are named jesse and james lol)

I always feel a bit awkward trying not to upset my dad with my sister (she's isolated the whole half of that family and seems to be working on the rest grr) For example I'm trying to do a kind of family tree scrapbook thing for my dad and step mum for christmas and always feel a bit weird seeing photos of the four of us ya know!

I know it's a bit off topic. Will be back soon looking for advice am sure

Oh Vinyl bowls sound sort of funky - wonder if i can find some old motorhead ones to make some for my dad and his wife - although think he might think me slightly sadistic for doing that to a motorhead record!

I am planning on doing a bowl for my uncle who is VERY into his music and am trying to find old scratched records around the house or at a charity shop and put a label on the bowl mentioning that no records were harmed in the making of this gift or something along those lines hehe

Hi, just been lurking at the last few pages and some of these ideas are brilliant - I particularly like irishgirls mini book - but wondering irish girl if you can give a bit more info. on how to do the book - i.e. what size book do you use - is it just a nice note pad, and do you just print and glue your quotes on each page.
    Many Thanks.

Am stuck thinking of what to do for a navy themed hampoer for my BIL who has recently been accepted into the navy and will move to the base in october/november.
Am going to find a village people lp to make a vinyl bowl and my OH is doing a drawing (he is a v talented artist, got his degree etc) of the family for him but am stuck after that...
