How about a tot of rum and a pin up, could be a modern playboy type one if you were feeling risque or a classic 1950s style one.
Is he going to be going to sea soon after or stay on the base for a while?

    That's great pip.
Think he is staying on base for about 6-9 months and then ships out.

For his other brother was a bit stumped, he loves cooking but had a cookery themed hamper last year so going with his other love in life which is partying. Doing a night out and morning after. So far I have: condom, flavoured vodka, drinking games, alka seltzer/resolve, irn bru, shaving soap (homemade) and a headache relief pot (homemade)
Maybe a tag thing about the size of a credit card stating if lost please return to...

    How does that sound?

Hi, just been lurking at the last few pages and some of these ideas are brilliant - I particularly like irishgirls mini book - but wondering irish girl if you can give a bit more info. on how to do the book - i.e. what size book do you use - is it just a nice note pad, and do you just print and glue your quotes on each page.
    Many Thanks.
I would do the books about 4 x 3 inches cut them out in card and fancy papers and print each line in white or cream card and ink the edges before sticking them down on each page then punch holes and use book rings or ribbon to tie the pages together
But I have bought a BIA which binds the pages together but you could use a fancy note book ad add embelleshiments etc along witht he quotes if you wish

I am making a minibook today for a dear friend who is 50 tomorrow and will upload the pic of the book once it is finished I am doing the "SHE" qotes by kobi yomoda

Yippeeee .... I've just been asked at the nursery if I will be able to make up some reindeer flannels for christmas (that my daughter gave them all the staff), for them to sell to hopefully make a bit of money.
It won't be for profit (as I now work there), but whey hey ....... am I excited. I mentioned some other ideas (that have been posted on here) and they are well impressed :D
So pleasssseeee keep the idea's coming.

I wonder if I could get them interested in some halloween ideas ?????

Hello, can I join in please? I have read all the way through the thread and I am sooo impressed with all your ideas!

I taught myself to crochet last year (books and youtube!) and made some little amigurumi dragons as gifts. I also knitted some facecloths.

I haven't started anything yet this year but I intend to! So far I think I am going to crochet a granny square scarf for a friend, some amigurumi bunnies, an amigurumi nativity for my sister (she collects nativity scenes) and knit an angel using a pattern I bought for 10p in a sale.

I also thought about taking photos of my friend's garden (it is her pride and joy) and either doing a photo montage or a calendar for her. I can sneak in when she's out so she will never know I've been in there with my camera! It is at its summer best right now so I will need to sneak in soon if I'm going to use this idea. Last year I cat sat for her and took some photos of her cat. I blew these up so that his face filled the entire photo, and framed it for her, and she was thrilled to bits with it.

Christmas stuff will have to wait a little though - I am currently knitting a mixed race family of dolls for my friend's little girl whose birthday is in August. Mum is ecru, Dad is dark brown and little girl is light brown. Then she can play with the dolls and they will represent her own family.

Please keep posting ideas - it is really great to find other enthusiastic crafters!
