I'm pretty well located for mystery shopping, within 10 miles of a city and two big towns. I don't travel more than that. I regularly work for TNS, Tern, Associa and Grassroots. I'm not a big fan of mystery shopping, but it can be fitted around other activities.
One of my challenges now is that I need to bring in a certain amount of money to cover life's essentials, but in doing so it doesn't really leave me much time to develop my own business, which is what I need to do, to get away from all the faffy jobs.
Take care. Ebaying can get done tomorrow. Give yourself a big pat on the back for what you have achieved.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

Does it feel any better getting it all down online debs? That's some list, you're a busy lady. Don't be too hard on yourself, life is busy enough without all these added extras that we all need to address to keep us sane. Coming up with a plan is half the battle, executing is another matter, but we'll all get there, and when we do they'll be another list for us to work through ......... c'est la vie.
DeeDee, enjoy your trip to Glasgow. Great shops there too, to tempt you.
You've hit the nail on the head with me, again. I am scared about taking 'the leap of faith', and making a real go of the business, I will be going completely out of my comfort zone. Any suggestions on how I can propel myself to the next stage, when half of me just wants the status quo?I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. Good to hear from you JennyJewell. Well done on getting started on your challenge. Sounds like you are having a lovely weekend.
Debs, I used to work as Commercial Debt Manager for a finance company. I loved the job as it was interesting, well paid and flexible. I worked mostly from home, so very little childcare was needed.
Unfortunately, I was made redundant, when the company was taken over, and I struggled to find a job worth doing financially, once childcare costs were factored in.
I took a job working as the Lollypop lady at my son's school, twice a day, and I started up my own business doing risk assessment/invoicing/credit control for small to medium sized businesses. I set up as a Limited Company and got VAT registered. My first customer was a local company and I work about 45 hours a month for them. I have never ventured beyond this one customer.
In fairness, I really enjoy both of these jobs, but I need to earn another £300.00 a month to keep our heads above water. I earn this through the usual MSE ways.
My plan is to get more customers for my business and ditch the MSE jobs. To that end I have just completed a Para-Legal in Debt Recovery course and will have my Consumer Credit Licence by the end of the month. A local Accountancy firm, that wants me to work with their clients on debt recovery issues, stipulated that I got the above paperwork.
So the next step is moving out of my comfort zone and really making a go of the business, and as mentioned before, this really scares me and I'm not sure why.
Thanks for listening. It feels better getting it out x.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0
