Update: Well today hasn't gone as planned at all. My poor friend's car broke down in the middle of nowhere, so I went out to rescue the kids, while she waited on the AA man. 2.5 hours later they turned up and she is now safely back home.

Since, safely depositing the children, I have been involved in the mother of all warranty disputes, and I am awaiting a final decision from the car dealership. Been really interesting though. It is amazing how often dealerships use warranty loopholes to negate a customer's legal rights.

As they say, life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. That just about sums up how this week has gone, but i'm trying to be Zen about it and go with the flow.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening
Today I am going to show you something else on our website. Each day(Monday-Friday) our WebDude Lee puts up an Ask FlyLady Question and I answer it. http://flylady.net/pages/askflylady1.asp - DONE - WILL NEED TO THINK OF A GOOD QUESTION TO ASK HER:- FLYLADY THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - "CLEAN IS CONTAGIOUS, LOL"

    Overwhelmed...
    Dear FlyLady,

I have been flying for a long time now. My attitude has changed, I'm not yelling at my babies or dh, I've been doing the 15 minutes of decluttering each day and I haven't seen a dent. I've been making donations and putting out the trash, sometimes 3 giant trash bags a week, in addition to the regular cans, I know it didn't get messy in a day, I'm trying to focus on all the accomplishments, but lately, I have been feeling so discouraged and overwhelmed

    Any hints?
    Dear Friend,

You answered your own question; Your home did not get messy in a day and it is not going to get clean over night. It took me almost nine months of decluttering my home in 15 minute sessions, 27 Fling Boogies three times a day and 5 minute room rescues. Every bag out of your home is one less bag to look at, walk around or try to organize. You can't organize clutter; you can only get rid of it. Use your zones to focus on one area at a time. You need to see some progress. This will encourage you. Clean is contagious.

Ok - i've done the fun things, long lie in, soak in the bath, had fun with DS, but I am in danger of snuggling up on the couch and doing nothing for the rest of the day, and I am not ready to drift back into the old ways - so a 15 minute on off challenge will begin at 12.00 - going to plan it now. Update - It worked pretty well.

Overall a good, relaxed day. I forget that in the school holidays, I sleep in and spend a lot of time with DS, and spend more money on him, so I must remember to adjust plans for month accordingly in future. It made more sense to move things in red until tomorrow, as they are nearer to yet another mystery shop that I will be performing.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening
Today we are going to add another routine to our day. I like to call this our get home from work routine or get home from school. Whatever you name it; it is your afternoon routine. Make a new page in your Control Journal for your Afternoon Routine. As with any of your routines; you will have to adapt to fit your family. Your Control Journal is your guide for BabyStepping your way through you day.

Already done, and tweaking it along with the morning, and evening routines. I've got to admit, i'm getting speedy and efficient at household organisation and chores that used to take me a long, chaotic time. Amazing really. Typing that to remind me not to fall back into the old STRESSFUL ways.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening
One of the things that make our home always ready for company is the fact that our main bathroom is clean. Each morning as part of my Morning Routine I do something I call a Swish and a Swipe. This means I swish the toilet with a toilet bowl brush and I wipe down the counter tops and sink with a rag and put away all the things I have gotten out. This takes all of two minutes to keep our bathroom ready for anyone. Add Swish and Swipe to your Morning Routine

This makes sense, and what is two minutes, duly added mam!

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening
You have only been doing your routines for 25 days now. I am so proud of you. Keep in mind that you are not ever going to be perfect and we don’t expect you to be. In fact we don’t even like that P word. Right now you have your routines written down in your Control Journal. It will help you to practice them each day. These habits are not automatic yet; so you are still going to have to use your Control Journal, sticky notes and our reminders to help you establish your habits. Another tool you have is your calendar and stickers. We love giving ourselves a sticker when we are establishing a habit. I know that I have thrown a lot at you in the last 25 days but don’t give up now. Every time you do your routine you are one step closer to developing your habit and running on automatic pilot. Today I want you to read how I started developing my routines one habit at a time. It took me several months to do this and here I am expecting you to get it in four weeks. Well here is the deal; I don’t expect you to do this in one month. Be nice to yourself and don’t beat yourself up. Your consistent BabySteps will get you there.
http://flylady.net/pages/WhyFly_PersonalTest.asp Now go give yourself a gold star for doing your Morning Routine.

    afc0cce07446b180Nice big one :p

    Today's Challenges:- School Holidays

Had a lovely freebie, bed and breakfast in bed, at a top country hotel last night. We smuggled in our own wine and nibbles, so it cost nought.

Then today we met up with a friend and her DS and had a lovely day at a seabird centre and mucking about on the beach. Finished the day off with the obligatory fish and chips, on a bench, by the sea. The weather was great, and it was a very relaxing day.

But, this is the last day of the school holidays so normal service resumes tomorrow. On that note plan for the rest of today:-

17.15 - 18.30 - Meatballs and spaghetti for DH and DS
    - Wash on/away and out
    - Organise DS bag for Tuesday - Forest School/Reading Book/HW
    - Evening routine - All clothes ready for tomorrow and sandwiches/salads
    - Find gym stuff
    18.30 - 22.30 - 20/20/20 gym and sauna with good book

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening
It takes us a month to establish a habit. I set it up this way because I knew that I would miss a day here and there and I didn’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water. That was how I had always done it with my perfectionism. If I missed a day I gave up; well I factored in this part of our personalities into our FlyLady system. This is why we take a whole month to establish one habit. Today I want you to go look at the bottom of any email that I have sent out. The first sentence is what I want you to look at and incorporate into you FLYing!

"Let's not fail to live because we are afraid of making a mistake. Our perfectionism is keeping us locked away in shame. We don't have to live in fear anymore." ~FlyLady

I am really struggling with my paralegal course, just don't seem to be able to fit it in, and I really want to pass it, to move on to the next stage of building up my business.

So, the new plan. I will try something called the unschedule. I will study for just 30 quality minutes each day, any time I like, and at the end I get to colour in a square and match the 30 minutes with something fun, for me. Think the one hour chunk was just too much for me to handle.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening Today I want you to think about what you are fixing for dinner before 6:00 pm rolls around. You can do it as part of your before bed routine for tomorrow or as part of your morning routine for today. Write this in your Control Journal.

OK here, I have been menu planning for a while, and think it's great.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

I've come home to a nice surprise, £26.50 worth of vouchers. Tesco double points has been good to me. Have already used some for Pizza Express tokens and Cineworld tickets for a nice treat in November.

Done some overtime today too and a Pinecone survey, so £10.00 a day challenge is finishing in style - £478.80 so far or £17.10 a day.

Just come back from the gym. Nearly knocked myself out on the side of a door as I went to put back my weights. I've got this great big gash down my forehead and a lump the size of a gob stopper. What a sight for sore eyes I am.

Overtime at work ate into my study time, so I will address the balance tomorrow. I will, I will.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening Many times when we can’t seem to get going it is because we are not taking care of ourselves by eating right, drinking our water or getting enough sleep. As part of your routines I want you to remind yourself to eat good food, drink your water and get your rest.

Part of morning routine, will be to fill up my water bottle, and drink throughout from it throughout the day, as I never drink enough fluid.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening
We have worked very hard this past month. I hope that you have become familiar with our email FLY Washing system and you are seeing some progress in your home. It took me nine months of building my routines one habit at a time to get our home running on automatic pilot. Please do not beat yourself up over this. Anything you do today is better than it used to be! Celebrate each accomplishment and enjoy the process. Before you know it you will be having more time for the things that you love to do. Right now I want you to look at the bottom of our homepage and find the weekly Pamper Mission and read it. Then think about when you are going to do it. You may have to put it on your calendar to really make it happen.

Ok - There is an amazing autumn walk, through the hills by a local castle. I will take myself off there, for a hike, next Wednesday afternoon and have coffee and cake on top of the hill. It's a very restorative spot.

On that note, feel like I didn't sleep last night. Head throbbing, going to press on though. C'est la vie.

Just back from shopping. My sister is coming up for a long weekend, so I wanted to get in some goodies and wine for her. I went to M&S for their 25% off, wine offer. They had an offer on at the weekend of a family roast dinner with vegetables, desert and wine, for £15.00. We had the roast beef option on Saturday and it was delicious. When I popped in today they had all the same stuff, which obviously hadn't sold as well as they had hoped, but with a further 75% off. I bought three big lambs roasts and two massive Oakwood chickens for less than £12.00, and six bottles of decent wine for only £20.00. Yum, Yum.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Look at your calendar for next month. Does anyone have a birthday? We forget to send cards and purchase gifts. Put this on your errand list so you can to buy cards and gifts on your errand day. To learn more about a Basic Weekly Plan; You don’t have to start doing it yet. Just think about it. http://flylady.net/pages/FLYFaq.asp#weeklyplan

Going to graduate onto the basic weekly cleaning plan and zones from 1st November 2009. Planned my budget for November.

No events in November, though would like to treat mum to her favourite, Molton Brown. I will buy 'Red' magazine today and use the £10.00 off token.

    November Treats - budgeted for:-
Weekend with sister - Use Historic Scotland pass and Spa vouchers
Cinema night out and meal with friend - vouchers - Vue
Cinema night out and meal with family - Tesco vouchers - Pizza Express and Cineworld
Weekly pamper treat - Free walks with coffee and cake, this month
Weekly date night (DH) -Saturday night (indoors)
Weekly family film night - Tuesday night (indoors)
Present for mum - Molton Brown
DH has given me money for a winter coat, bag, boots, hat and scarf, so will be looking for some bargains this month.

Had a lovely afternoon with my dear sister, just wish she lived nearer. Chose the castle option, as sister loves history and culture, then we went for a walk in the hills, bliss...
