Did you know that we have Eleven Commandments? You may want to print these out or write them in your Control Journal. http://flylady.net/pages/FLYingLessons_11commandments.asp

    FlyLady's Eleven Commandments

Keep your sink clean and shiny.

Get dressed every morning, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t forget your lace-up shoes.

Do your morning and before bedtime routine everyday.

Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer.

Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away.

Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME.

Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour.

Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night.

Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later.

Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy and you will be.

Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Pamper yourself, you deserve it.

    Thanks DC,

So many other things that I want to tackle.

I think I have lived in a protective bubble for years. After a severe knock back, I never wanted to put my head above the parapet and risk being shot down, so I created a comfortable, chaotic, quite insular environment, which suited me for a long time.

Ultimately, I became sick of it and decided to join in the boxing match of life again.

  • Hi Scrooge,

You scare me and I used to be in the military! What you are doing is amazing and I'm going to get up with you this week and do all the bits of your list that pertain to me and my life. See if it can get me moving.

Congratulations on your DFD and also good for you getting a nice haircut and MSE manicure!

    Best wises...

Thanks DeeDeeinDooDoo. What a fabulous user name!

Your comment about the military really made me laugh. I am sure your stint there will have instilled in you the self discipline to achieve whatever you set your heart on. Go for it!

Need to move things around as been offered another mystery shop and decided to take it:
15.00 - Make pie for tea and prep veg
    15.30 - 15.45 - Organise for trip
    15.45 - 16.00 - Drive to mystery shop
    16.00 - 16.30 - Do mystery shop
    16.40 - 17.30

    17.45 - 18.15 - Stick tea in oven - DS goes through reading with me x 2.
    18.15 - 18.30 - Tea
18.30 - 20.30 - 20/20/20 Gym class - Chill with book in sauna and lounger

Things went pear shape today, as couldn't find location for mystery shop, but wouldn't give up, so took me 1.5 hours to locate and another 0.5 hours to do. Missed the gym and too tired now to write up anything or do para-legal. Decided to get up earlier tomorrow morning to catch up. 5.30 am start, and tomorrow is VAT and TAX day too. Oh the joys..............It's times like these when I realise why sticking my head in the sand was such an appealing option.

I probably shouldn't have taken the shop on, but I need a buffer this month to keep me debt free and that is the £310.00, which I need to achieve.

    Must remember:
DS sock challenge - still outstanding - wash more socks today

    Diet Day
    Meusli and fruit
    Ham salad
HM chicken pie and baked potatoes

Done, made me chuckle, but there is no doubt this does work, and it is easier than normal housework, producing much better results.

20.00 - 22.00 - Two essays for para-legal and two squares to fill in - No chance, but this is now a serious priority -

Didn't get up early, I find it so much harder when it's dark and cold, and I am a morning person, usually love the early morning. Life a bit more relaxed now that schools are off. I enjoy the school holidays.

Update: Finished my VAT return, and although it took me much longer than expected, the good news is, I need to pay £90.00 less than I have set aside. :T Will transfer that to my £10.00 a day challenge, and get the VAT cheque off early, a feat never accomplished before.

Now done my tax and accounts from when I started my limited company in June. Have used up all my allowance, so will need to make sure I put aside 21% of everything that I earn from now on, or will be in trouble come next June. Good thing is that company is making very healthy profit. Again, it took far longer to do than I allocated.. I need to be much more realistic in my timings.

Next job is mystery shopping spreadsheet and then I can finish off 2008 self assessment. Nothing should be due here as was unemployed for most of the year, following redundancy, still needs to be done though, as was doing lots of MSE odds and sods. Here we go.

Finally, at 20.48, I have finished this, I spent ages trying to find all the documentation that I needed. Everything complete now, which is fabulous. I am due a tax refund of £66.80, but no increase in tax credits, as estimate was spot on. I also found a cheque in my paperwork for £12.00, that I had forgotten to bank.

Verdict: Today was really hard work, groan, but that is me £168.80 better off than I expected, and another thing crossed off my list. :T

I can totally understand why I procrastinate on all this aaaaah, but I was determined to get it all finished today, even if everything else went to pot, which it did.

    Must remember:
DS sock challenge - still outstanding - wash more socks today

    Diet Day
    Porridge and fruit
    Ham salad
HM chicken soup - and ciabatta bread

    Day 20

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening One of the many reminders that we send out has to do with our laundry; when you include laundry in your morning and evening routine this makes getting up and getting dressed much easier. Laundry doesn’t take long to do when we don’t procrastinate about one of the five steps: Sort, wash, dry, fold and put away. It only takes a few short minutes. When you include laundry in your routines everyone is blessed. Nothing says I love you more than clean underwear!

She's irritating me again today, that Flylady, but got to give it to her, house is very tidy, and washing much more organised, but for goodness sake 'Nothing says I love you more than clean underwear!', how sad is that.

DS even made his bed yesterday, as he got up, without prompting. He was really pleased with himself. Wonders will never cease.

  • Hi Scrooge,

Well it's Tuesday and I haven't been good...not much done at all BUT house is tidy and clean cos I have been doing flylady for years. I think the problem with having been to strict schools and then Navy is that the discipline is external hence needing flylady to tell me what to do!!

I will have tax return done by end of week also cos like you I am expecting some extra tax credit money hopefully...

Also it is nice to break the routine ie schools off, but great to get back into it too...

    bye for noo

    Hi DeeDee,

I like your positive, "I will have tax return done by end of week", because on this thread, Pandapaws says,

"BUT as soon as you post it, you are absolutely 100% committed to completing it come rain, shine or volcanic eruption".

Lol, I think that I need external discipline and that is what has been lacking in my life. I have always rebelled against it, in a dippy, hippy kind of way, but not any more.
