Here is what we are already doing; Look in your Control Journal; leave the sticky notes up to help remind you. It takes us 28 days to develop a new habit. These are just BabySteps on our way to a new way of living.
    Morning Routine
    - Get up and get dressed to lace up shoes; fixing your hair and face
    - Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom
    - Recognizing the negative voices and changing them; YOU ARE FLYing NOW!
    - Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes
    Before Bed Routine
    - Keep your sink shining
    - Lay out your clothes for tomorrow
    - Put out your Hot Spot (I have to do this twice a day) It makes me smile in the morning!
Today we are going to learn how to declutter our homes a few minutes at a time with some fun tools that I know you have been wondering about from the reminders you have been reading in our emails. Making it fun will get the job done!
http://flylady.net/pages/FLYingLessons_Declutter.asp Add a 5 minute room rescue to your Morning Routine.

Update: Well I realise why I usually give up Flylady at week two, she ups her game, and I don't feel quite ready for it yet. I could have done with another week 1.

Nevertheless, I will persevere, but this is going to take supreme effort as I have a bad case of MYSTERYSHOPPINGITIS. Done 12 so far this week, with another 8 to go until Sunday and I am cream crackered.

Just going to dig deep and and keep ploughing on.

    Update 2:

Well I am very pleased to report, that having gone through my spreadsheets, and having paid in a large cheque, for a ridiculous number of hours that I worked last month, along with money from an equally silly number of mystery shops, I am very pleased to report that my overdraft is now clear and this is my DEBT FREE DAY.

I am also totally cream crackered!!

Now i'm going to concentrate on building up a savings buffer, to avoid slipping back into overdraft.
    :T:T:T:T:j:j:j:j:beer::beer::beer:
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

    Day 10

    Morning Routine
    - Get up and get dressed to lace up shoes; fixing your hair and face
    - Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom
    - Recognizing the negative voices and changing them; YOU ARE FLYing NOW!
    - Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes
    - 5 Minute Room Rescue (pick any room in the house) set your timer and go!
    Before Bed Routine
    - Keep your sink shining
    - Lay out your clothes for tomorrow
    - Put out your Hot Spot (I have to do this twice a day) It makes me smile in the morning!
We have already been using our timers for 2 minutes and now 5 minutes. Today we are going to learn the power of just 15 minutes. You can do anything for 15 minutes. This is all about getting started and giving ourselves permission to stop when the timer goes off. You cannot restart the timer either. This is not a race to finish in 15 minutes either! The timer helps to keep us focused on what we are doing. Now set your timer for 15 minutes and go gather up all the trash you can find to throw away and put it in the garbage can outside. Then set your timer for another 15 minutes and sit down and put your feet up and read a favorite magazine till the timer goes off.

Update: Was stuck at dreaded day seven, exhausted last night and didn't do any Flylady, but woke up this morning to find that DH had tidied up the hotspots and kitchen and got things organised for the morning, which I really appreciate. This is all without asking! So I am going to do a deep clean today and then I will be back on track.

Had a manicure and pedicure mystery shop today, and used dark red nail varnish. Also had my hair cut in a much shorter, more modern style with blonde highlights through it. So i'm feeling rather sassy, and it's a long time since that's happened!
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Check your Morning Routine in your Control Journal
Check your Before Bed Routine in your Control Journal
Keep the sticky notes up to help remind you to look at your Control Journal. Can you believe that you have been FLYing for 12 days? I am so proud of you! BabySteps will get you there.
You have your basic routine started and these are what you do for now. Do not try to do too much too fast; you will just crash and burn. Continue to take BabySteps to build your Control Journals. Do not allow your perfectionism to take over. We are building our routines and our Control Journals one habit at a time. Today I want you to delete from your inbox all the emails from FlyLady. Now don’t cringe. They will all come back around and I write something new every day.

Update: Well this is easy today. I learnt my lesson last time and refused to sign up for the e-mails, they drove me potty - so nothing to delete.

I think I will treat myself with W H Smith vouchers to a more inviting control journal though, in typical MSE stationery fetish style.

Check your Morning Routine in your Control Journal
Check your Before Bed Routine in your Control Journal
Today I want you to find one of Kelly’s Missions and go and do it. They are fast and easy! This is going to introduce you to how we break our home into zones so that we never have to spring clean again.
http://flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp Here is what we are doing so far. We are practicing our Morning Routines, decluttering for 15 minutes a day and doing our Before Bed Routines.

    Tuesday's Mission!
    Dear Friends,

We are back in the bathroom and your mission for today is to clean out your bathroom trash can. Use the tub to fill the can with hot water and add some general purpose cleaner or dish soap. Let it soak and then scrub the bottom, the sides and the outside. Turn it over and let it dry in the tub and then put it back before someone needs to bathe and ends up taking a shower with the trash can! Have fun! This is so simple and makes a difference!

Your mission for the kids room is challenge them to a 27 Fling Boogie! You know your kids - if 27 is going to be too much then scale it back, if they are small have them choose three toys that are broken or missing pieces and throw those away. Then have them choose three things that they no longer play with to bless another child with. Choose the number based on their age and maturity. Use BabySteps, remember that this is a teaching moment - not a battle.

No kids? Do a 27 Fling Boogie in a room of your choice! Do it fast and don't look back!

    Love,
    Kelly

Check your Morning Routine in your Control Journal
Check your Before Bed Routine in your Control Journal
There is tons of information on our website. I do not want you to get confused. Today I want you to go read an essay that Kelly wrote. Most of us are calendar challenged. Kelly has a way of making it so easy for us to understand. http://flylady.net/pages/FLYingLessons_UsingCalendar.asp

Kelly's Guide on How to Use a Calendar
    Dear Friends:
One of the biggest tools that you can have in your journey to PEACE is a calendar. It doesn't matter what kind, it can be a wall calendar, a planner, whatever as long as you have one.
One of the first things that we tell you to do when starting our system is to establish routines and a basic weekly plan, this is why we had all of you go through the control journal exercises in the past few weeks. A calendar is the next step towards FLYing. A calendar should be a tool that keeps you and your family informed as to what is going on in your lives. If you are using a personal planner I still recommend that you have a family calendar that is located in a central location of your home so that all family members can see what is going on. This is what will save you from forgotten games, events, appointments and...disappointments!!! Your family counts on you to keep them going, using a calendar will help not only you but all of your family as well.
Once you have established routines and a basic weekly plan, you know that you are to sit down once a week to plan the next week, we call this desk day. This is the day that you look at your calendar to see what is happening the following week for your family.
The kicker is that if you don't have a calendar, than you have to rely on your memory to tell you what is going on for next week, well I think we all know how well that works! LOL!

So how do you use a calendar?
    • Family Events: Take the time to sit down and fill in birthdays and general information that is consistent for your family; this will save you from ever forgetting a birthday or anniversary again! This is where you look at your calendar on desk day to see if there any cards or packages that you need to buy and or mail.
    • Schedules: When you receive a schedule of events from anything that a family member participates in FILL IT IN ON YOUR CALENDAR IMMEDIATELY!! Examples are : school calendars, sports schedules, boy scouts, dance classes, church schedules, etc. When you get them write them down! Don't leave those schedules in a hotspot or the car! If you absolutely can't write them down that minute than take a paper clip and clip it to your calendar or put it in the pocket of your calendar to pull out and enter the information on the calendar when desk day comes around. This will allow you to know what events you can and cannot attend because you will be able to see if you have a schedule issue.
    • Invitations: When you receive an invitation in the mail DON'T throw it in a hotspot or a pile of mail. First ask yourself if you want to go to the event, if you do than go to your calendar and see if the date is a good one for you or the person that has been invited. If you have looked at your calendar and know that you can attend, you write it down immediately! If the invitation requires an RSVP than take care of that right away. (By the way if you don't want to go to the event or it is something that doesn't work into your schedule then RSVP if required or throw the invitation away!)
    • Appointments: When you schedule an appointment for Doctors, dentists, barbers, whatever, look at your calendar FIRST! Then after you have scheduled them WRITE the appointment down so that you will not schedule yourself into a conflict. When you are using a basic weekly you will have a day that is more convenient for running around. Try to set up most of your appointments on your errand day, you can make this decision.
Some calendars and planners come with stickers that save time and space by having them with pictures and/or words that you can help use to schedule things. If you have those USE them. They are little tools to assist you in your planning. If you have a sticker that says Dentist: than use it than you only have to write in the name of the person that is going to the dentist and the time, the sticker will tell you that it is a dentist appointment. Visual aids that will help you!!!! Colored pens, stickers, hi-lighters. Be creative!
Ask any Born Organized person that you know, they use calendars, planners and even the electronic date keepers. If you want to really FLY, using a calendar is a must! As I said before, it can be whatever calendar you choose: The wall calendar, a pocket planner, a desktop calendar, it does not matter as long as you use it!!!!
We want you to FLY! We promise that using a calendar will help you to FLY! Be consistent and dedicated about this and it will work for all of you!
    Happy Planning!
    Kelly

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening
You are starting on our third week of FLYing. Each day you are going to your Control Journal and using your sticky notes to remind you along with the reminders that you are getting in our inbox. Our habits are coming along nicely and we are seeing changes in our attitudes and our homes. On our new week of FLYing you are going to add Making your bed to your morning routine. If you will do this as soon as your feet hit the floor you are less likely to forget it.

That will mean making bed while DH is still in it ;). Anyhow today's task is OK, beds get done before I go out anyway :D.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening Today I want you to look in your inbox for an email from me. It can be a Morning Musing, a testimonial or an essay. Just take a few minutes and read over it. You never know what I am going to discuss.

Don't get her e-mails, so will attach a little motivation essay for myself.

FlyLady's Simple Guide to Menu Planning

"How many times have you stood in front of your refrigerator at suppertime and not had a clue what you are going to feed your family? All of us struggle with preparing meals and it becomes such a chore because we don't plan ahead. Part of FLYing is knowing "What's for Supper!"" - FlyLady
    • Set aside time each week to do your menu planning. Start by planning menus with your family's favorites, or plan meals which use up the food in your freezer and pantry.
    • Write down on your calendar what your are going to have for supper each day that week, even if you eat out. Don't forget the side dishes.
    • Put together a grocery list before you go to the market. Then, only buy what you need.
    • Now, you know what is for supper for the entire week and you know you have the ingredients! Happy cooking!
Once you have established this routine using your family's tried and true recipes, you may be ready to try some experimenting. We have some of our own family recipes to share with you. Enjoy! If you try the recipes, let us know how you liked them!
    Meal Plan this week:-
Saturday - Roast beef and yorkshire
Sunday - Roast chicken and veg
Monday - HM chicken pie and veg
    Tuesday - HM chicken soup
Wednesday - HM vegetable burgers and chips
    Thursday - Spaghetti carbonara
Friday - Toad in the hold with mash and onion gravy
Shop done on line and fought TC customer services to get £5.00 off code re-instated, they are making it very difficult to use any coupons or vouchers at the moment. Will re-think whole shopping system next month
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Goals for Awesomely Outrageous October are as follows:-

    Mid Month Review

I like this saying from Kung Fu Panda lol, 'yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift and that is why we call it the present'.

    - PAY £277.00 OFF OVERDRAFT - DONE - OVERDRAFT PAID OFF AND NOW DEBT FREE
    Plan - £10.00 a day challenge - Mystery Shopping/Budget Cuts/Vouchers
    9/20 NSD
    £196.00/£310.00 - 14 Mystery shops/audit - another 4 booked in £52.00

This area is going really well, I have a refund due of £30.00 which will take me up to £278.00,
when all mystery shops are added. So just looking for £32.00. I will look for another three mystery shops this month to make up the shortfall. NSD's on target and debt free.
Verdict: extremely pleased with progress here. :j
    - WEIGHT TO STAY AT 10 STONE 7LB OR BELOW
Plan - Gym/swim Monday and Wednesday nights and one other session a week
    - Exercise every morning - Hacker's Plan
    - Weight loss spreadsheet and calorie Plan - Hacker's Plan
    - Wannabedebtfree's GUNNAGETTHINNER by xmas challenge 7/14 lbs

I am going to the gym 2/3 times a week, exercising most days and eating pretty well, overall. Alcohol consumption low too. Certainly looking toned and clothes beginning to be too big. Feeling much more energetic and able to cope better with curved balls.
Verdict: extremely pleased with progress here too. :j
    - BRING ORDER TO HOUSEWORK - AND SAVE TIME 31/31 GOAL
Plan - Flylady 31 baby steps - one step a day
    16/31

Enjoying Flylady, I am giving myself lots of praise, and although house still looks very lived in, it is gradually taking shape. Not been too heavy here and family have joined in the Flylady eccentricities. DH has christened his desk his kitchen sink, and has kept it clear and shiny.
Verdict: Slow and steady, but living up to the plan. :T
    - PLAN EACH DAY AND WORK MY PLAN - 31/31
Plan - Post each morning on MSE and do it not just view it
    16/31

This is now a habit, not a chore, it really works for me and keeps me focused.
Verdict: Works well and will continue with the habit. :T
    - COMPLETE KITCHEN
Plan - Project manage DH on this one, tactfully of course ......

No progress here, but have spoken to DH and he plans to get started on Sunday - watch this space.

Verdict: I am confident he will get started, not sure when though.

    - DO MODULE 2 AND 3 OF PARALEGAL COURSE
Plan - Study session on Tuesday and Thursday

This is going really badly. I have brainstormed why, and have nearly finished reading, The Now Factor, to see if I can change things here, as I have a major blockage. I have already had extensions and this should have been finished 16 months ago. My final deadline is 6th December 2009.

New plan - Draw grid with 40 squares on it, representing 40 short essays that need to be done to pass the course. I will do one a day, usually between 4.15 and 5.15 pm each day, until they are all finished.
As I finish each one, I will colour in a square and reward myself.
Verdict: This one is so hard for me. If I do this, then I will officially lose my procrastinator status.
    - COMPLETE VAT RETURN - TAX RETURN AND THIS YEARS ACCOUNTS FROM JUNE
Plan - Set aside a day to get this all organised

This one is another killer, I am terrible for procrastinating here, and a fine would ruin my debt free status, so I am going to do these on Tuesday 20th October - VAT and TAX day.
Verdict: It's got to get done. I will develop a PMA and conquer my issues here.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening Today I want you to think about what time you are going to bed each night. Set a specific bed time and stick to it. You need your rest. Put this on your Before Bed Routine.

BED TIME IS 10.30 PM EXCEPT ON SATURDAY WHEN IT IS 11.30 PM
