    Part of the Furniture
    Hi

Been slacking a bit, but i did manage to do the shred today, and i have been knitting. I wanted to do 2 blankets for special babies arriving very soon, and kind of lost track of time a bit. One baby is due 5th of August and one on the 1st of September. I am just doing the border of the 1st one, but i still have all of the 2nd one to do.

Busy week too. We have the cavity wall insulation being done on Tuesday, and also the bathroom guy needs to come back - Wednesday i think.

We also need to get our bums in gear and arrange for some bits to be delivered so DH can do the fascia on the garage this month.

I have been floundering a bit so time to regain some focus in all areas.

Morning everyone, and welcome LittleBit, You seem to be racing through your list and you look like you had a really productive week micron. 7 x Shred :).

I'm back from the camping stage of my holiday and it was really good fun overall.

I felt like an overgrown girl guide, and kept having to adjust my focus to see the positive side of the experience :rotfl:, as the weather was challenging on occasions, and the camp sites chosen by DH and DS were basic to say the least and remote. They like the Ray Mear's experience.

Still, we spent £4,000 last year going to a luxury villa with pool in Menorca, with extended family, and they both said that they far preferred this year's adventures, which came in at around £200.00.

I've actually lost weight too, as the food was rather basic.

I'm off sailing this morning, but will have my first hot bath/wash for ten days first. I'm not sure i'll miss cold showers xx.

Hi scrooge, lovely to have you back – you have been missed. And you have brought some others back to the thread with you. It was getting a little lonely in here.
Glad you enjoyed your camping. Sounds like you did really well considering you had no electricity or running water. I must admit I do like a lot of luxury but did a camping trip with no electricity/water (well in a tree house) in the Caribbean a few years ago and loved it. You lost weight as well so another added bonus.
Considering you have had visitors and been away I think you have done extremely well with your July monthly plan. You even managed to pull your budget back into line and have focused on your Special Project. Well done.:T
Plus managed to do a lot of reading whilst away. I’m still half way through my NLP and mind mapping book. I love books and can’t resist buying them but need to spend the time reading them (maybe I should rephrase and say completing them!)

I can tell you have come back from your trip even more focussed that usual. I think I am going to hold on to your positivity and come along for the ride.

I have been absent for far too long. Glad you had a good holiday. Personally I am a big wimp when it comes to camping, last experience was sometime in 1979, and that left me fearful forever. I'm sure things are much more civilised now.

Anyway I have a very basic August challenge, it's simply to get a grip of the decluttering, I always start with big plans and just give up. Goodness knows how many times I've started this, but I just can't find anything !

Enjoy your sailing (again this totally scares me unless it involves a ferry or hovercraft!)

    Hi DC,

I am also going to focus on decluttering this month. I always start but rarely every seem to get to the end of it. Maybe we can encouage each other to the finish line! Not only have I got the whole house to declutter but the garage is full with stuff that hasn't been touched in years!

    hi all

well feel like feet havent touched the floor with being one place then another

hope you are all well as i havent got time right now to catch up with the posts

haydn is having a mediocre season this year which maybe down to the pressure he is putting himself under as he wants to be in the england squad soooo much

he has another big comp next week which he really needs to do well in!

    wish him luck
    take care all

    Hi Wilf,
I thought you must have been busy as not heard from you for a little while.
I am sending lots of positive vibes and best wishes to Haydn. He will get there. I can totally understand him wanting to be in the England squad. I am sure it is difficult staying focussed on his game as the pressure of wanting to be in the squad must be very difficult. He needs to try to relax a little and just believe in his ability and he will get there.
Hope you are managing to take a little bit of time out for yourself.

hello, just popping out of lurkdom to say, can I join please? I thought that it would help me out if as this challenge states, I have to commit to finishing. So if I may can I set myself a challenge for the month of August? This would be to actually be able to open the door of the spare bedroom and put a bed in there  Moved into OH house and when we have visitors, despite living in a 3 bed house we have to sleep on camp beds in the living room:(. It is difficult to completely clear it as all the "stuff" is his and he has a problem letting go of things. It doesnt help that when he lived at home with his parents, his Dad frequently just threw his stuff away so I am very wary of sorting it out.

To be able to do this I need to
    • clear some space in the wardrobes in our bedroom (Gok capsule comes to mind) will allow me to clear some boxes of clothes from the back bedroom into the wardrobe - freecycle and charity shop any unwanted clothes
    • freecycle a small two seat sofa from our bedroom which will allow me to put in more storage space
    • build some bookshelves that match the bedroom set in our bedroom to be able to move some books into there from boxes in back room
    • arrange to get the shed built so I can move some boxes into it (some bits of the shed are in the back bedroom!)
    • arrange to get a new inner blanket for the storage heater that OH took out of living room 5 years ago so he could paint. Oh living room still not painted heater is currently living in the back bedroom
    • arrange for said heater to be put back on wall in living room
    • move boxes from back bedroom into the shed when built
    • bring bed out of storage to put in back bedroom
Will this do for a start?

    Hi Cherisong,

Of course you can join. You have made a great start by listing some of the things you would like to get done. You know what they say, write it down and make it happen (hmm another book I have bought but not read yet!)

    UPDATE
    • sofa was put on freecycle on Sunday morning. Collected Sunday evening
    • desk from main bedroom moved into study
    • started Gok style clear out of the wardrobe this morning.

    Not bad for day 2.

Well done DC!! and welcome Cherisong, it sounds like you have a well thought out plan there. Best wishes to your DS Wilf for the rest of the season.

I have to confess that the sailing course today was a real endurance test. It was much more hands on than I expected. I was in a tiny boat, in a shipping channel, in the rain and strong winds for 5 hours. I am mentally and physically exhausted, and felt very sea sick. I would love to quit, but i'm going to finish it.

Mother nature and I are not quite on the same page at the moment, I think I have overdosed on her xx.

Will post goals for August tomorrow.

5 hours in the rain and strong winds, I'm not surprised you are mentally and physically exhausted... but look on the bright side it means you are physically fit to have done it :j. Well done for sticking with it. It sure will be worth it at the end of the course. And what an achievement.:T

I love your avatar micron. I'm just going to have another look and dream, although I am sure it will become your reality :).

Morning DC, I amaze myself with my physical activities too, they will be toned down in August though as I am looking very windswept and weatherbeaten. Too much of a good thing and all that. Happy August to you too.

The windowsill sounds doable. I think you are right to break the jobs down into smaller chunks and then cross them off.

Thanks scrooge. My avatar relaxes me and reminds me of when I went to the Maldives for my 40th last year. Hmmm total bliss. OK, enough of that dreaming time for me to get on with my list! :)
