Last shopped on the sunday before christmas, I refuse to shop in xmas week itself. Started shopping and cooking (to freeze) ready for xmas back in sept/oct. Now the freezer is still fairly full and cupboards are still heaving. Won't need anything but milk (and maybe bread if I can't be bothered to make some) until well into the new year, maybe even February :)

  • I shopped on Monday before Christmas. Stocked up like mad as we had flu in the house and I thought we could be ill for days. Was planning to buy milk etc yesterday but we still have loads so I shall hang on until Monday or Tuesday. I'll have to restock then before I start working nights. Although I'm sure we could last another week or so if we had to.

Despite living with three adults and one almost adult (16) all with their own transport., no-one else seems capable of buying food. DH will pop out for maybe 'milk' if we run low but it doesn't occur to him to restock anything else!

    I know, I'll start a rumour.

I was working in a bakery the other day and I heard that there is going to be a national bread strike this week.

I would urge everyone to rush to the supermarkets tomorrow and by a weeks supply of Warburtons toastie or similar.

On a side note, the guy in front of me in the queue bought £94 of cola and nothing else.

Can I retract mine saying I wouldn't go until the 4th? Wanted toast for brekkie today and the bread was mouldy so the birds got a treat and I had to go out :)

It was pretty empty in my local Sainsbury and I got some nice whoopsied bargains; huge pot of cream, cauldron mushroom burgers, strong cheddar and a christmas pudding all for an absolute fraction of their normal price ;) Think my Sainsbury must have ordered too much double cream because there were 30 huge pots in the reduced section, shame my freezer is so full.

Not until the 11th I think and after then only milk, bread and vegies. Managed to get to Tesco on the afternoon of the 24th and picked up 2 kilo Turkey Crowns for £4,99 each, down from £12, 6 70% meat sausages for 91p each and already had a large roast of beef (3kilos) So that's January and February sorted for meat. Off to visit my mother for a week after new year so that saves some money - I'll buy some stuff for them but they're in southern Spain so wine is £1 a bottle and the veggies are from the local market. Fingers crossed!

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!
